Well, I can breathe, yes, but the air in my nose stops, and if I try to breathe in, my singing sounds horrible! It also makes me uncomfertable. My breathing has always been right, I was taught what I thought was the right way. Is this normal? I want to continue singing, since it has been a passion of mine for along time, but I want to do it right.

You can't inhale and exhale at the same time. Singing is what happens while your exhaling. So don't waste time trying to breathe in when you're singing. Spend sometime looking over the music and plan little breathing breaks where the inhale won't be noticed.

It is very elementary, I know but maybe it will help and use your nose only on the inhale or your voice will have a nasal quality.....not good.

Sounds like you need to go back to the basics. Go and find a vocal coach and just get a few refresher courses and that should clear it all up. I hope this has helped you.

You sound like you are thinking about it way too much. Could you have sinus problems, maybe? I don't know...
