It is true that a nationality IS race, i.e. African Americans / Nation: Africa.
Islam is not a nation, being neither country nor continent. Islam is a religion. Even though they may call themselves the Nation of Islam, The majority of Muslims are not Arabs (only 20 percent of Muslims originate from Arab countries).
So by this, you actually would not be considered racist when speaking on a religion.
You would not be talking about their race. Also, it is a mixed race religion, just like Christianity.
We just don't call ourselves the Nation of Christian. I'd better be quiet, they might have that on the agenda for next week.

And even as "Hispanic" is an ethnicity and in no way a race, you would in no way know that with the help of Janet Murguia, the President of LaRaza.
