Loneliness is often a result or precipitator of depression. It can result from feeling bad about yourself and withdrawing from social situations and then feeling like you couldn't possibly get back into other social situations because you had to let the old ones go or even willingly let them fall by the wayside. Feeling overwhelmed can lead to loneliness.

Loneliness is also a very natural human emotion that everyone feels from time to time, and it in itself can feel overwhelming and like you'll never not feel it. It's hard to feel like you're capable of getting through it or doing anything to alleviate it.

My suggestion to you would be therapy if you need it to deal with any underlying depression or feelings of helplessness, and then if that's not such an issue, start volunteering or take a class. It can even be as simple as going to a book store, getting a drink and browsing the shelves for a little while, just putting yourself in physical proximity to other people. You can just sit and read and watch people move and talk and interact around you and you'll start to realize that you're not alone. So many people, myself included, deal with loneliness everyday. Just look at how we're communicating! We're not on someone's front porch meeting each other and having this conversation, we're talking over wires to people who aren't even near us! Our society has become more withdrawn and lonely. You're definitely not alone, but you can help yourself feel better when you feel the lonely bug biting.

I don't think it's about "curing" but more about accepting that this is a part of life. We get sad, we get lonely etc. If it takes up most of your life then maybe you need to see a Dr. for depression but if not try getting a hobby. I read, I exericise, I paint & sometimes I do nothing - I just relax.

unfortunately there is no cure or quick solution to this problem ..And it sucks big time being alone, having no one to share things with , to laugh with, to cry with , to watch movies and do things with...I don't think my soulmate even exist anymore. I try to meet people on the net ..but most of the time they are soo two- face and fake as hell... its not good.
Anyways my names Kevin Pleased to meet you.. care to chat to me ?
