I'll turn on my car radio and it works fine, but then suddenly the sound cuts out -- it sounds like the radio station stops suddenly, but it's the radio. I'll shut it off and turn it back on and sometimes it'll work again, but not for very long. Maybe it's some sort of short? It's the stock radio in a 1994 Pontiac.

Loose wire or something. Possibly its heat-related, as the radio or car gets warm the circuit is broken.

Pop out to your favorite local electronics store and get a new one...it will be a LOT cheaper than getting the old one repaired, and you'll end up with a MUCH better radio. You'll be able to play CDs, at the very least.

Either loss wire or over heating. Get under the dash and tug gently on each wire to your radio....if something is loose tighten it. If nothing is loose then look at the installation.....is it getting ventalation? Try to get more air into the area. If neither works then go to a stero store with a good guarantee and get CD player and have it installed! They will figure out what the problem is!

Did he say Pontiac?

Its the factory radios' circuit board going bad, deteriorating, dying. Time to get a new aftermarket head unit.

this happens extraordinarily to Buick's, Chevy's,Cadillacs and gmc's your gasoline pump could be vulnerable and the unexpected substitute in Temperature has led to it to end pumping. enable it sit down for an afternoon then climb below the vehicle and pound on your gas tank, if it fairly works prepare for a extensive restore bill

sounds to me like the wires on the speaker terminals need to be tightened or jus crossing (touching).. jus to be sure i'd turn the radio on, volume up. then i'd hit on the speaker to see if sound comes through if it does then i know it's the speaker terminals. if it doesn't then its got to be your radio's ground or faulty radio.. mostly likely i'd say it's got to be the speaker terminals....

if it's a factory unit then you need a after market stereo and you won't regret it, whatever you want they have, factory units have little power and you will notice a huge difference even with factory speakers hooked up to an after market unit
