I was thinking tonight about how sometimes when I call people I don't actually want to talk to them. However, I also don't want to send them a text message, perhaps because the thing I want them to know is difficult to explain in SMS form but relatively easy to explain in a voice mail. I think it would be cool if there were something I could do (say, push a button or something) that could have our phone call automatically directed to the voice mail instead of just hoping that they don't pick up the phone. What do you think?

You're right that it is already possible to send a voice message to someone... if you happen to be on the same voice mail system. If you have different phone companies you just have to ring them up.

On cell phones, most providers allow you to do this by calling your own voice mail and selecting the option to send a message. It is only available with cell phone providers though, so having this option for landlines would be nice.

This already exists. Where you can record a message and press in the phone number to where to send it. : ) It's handy

Hope this helps
