Hi,

My name is Ashley, and I think I'm dealing with some one who may be a little unbalanced. I've been sent an e-mail from some one telling me to shoot myself because I had the audacity of referring to my e-mails as a fe-mail, which is a lingo I use because I'm going through transition to become a female. There's no harm or evil intent with my letters, nothing derogatory or defamatory, or in any way could it be construed is demeaning. I just use the word fe-mail in place of e-mail in my every day language when I'm writting, and the person I'm concerned about completely lost it with me. If I want to sound like an idiot...shoot yourself....that kind of stuff.

So please, who do I forward this fe-mail to stipulate a complaint?

Well, there are several things that you can do about this situation.

1. If it's another Yahoo user then, you can report them to Yahoo for harassment. To report this person to Yahoo for harassment go to http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/mail/cgi_abuse and fill out the form.

2. You can block their email address so they cannot contact you again. If you're not sure how to block someone's email address then go to http://antispam.yahoo.com/tools?tool=5 or http://search1.cc.dcn.yahoo.com/cct_search.php?ui_mode=answer&prior_transaction_id=227127&action_code=4&highlight_info=16778840,10,19&turl=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp.yahoo.com%2Fhelp%2Fus%2Fmail%2Fread%2Fread-22.html&answer_id=1310999 for more information.

3. You could do both of the suggestions above. In fact, that's what I would do.

I hope this helps and I hope you get the problem resolved soon. Good luck!!

I wouldn't worry about it. Simply delete the offending e-mails and go on with your life.

I would never have made a choice like yours, but you have made it and it's okay to stand by it. I would be a bit less "in your face" about it though. You may be inviting criticism or hate mail just by being so obvious about it.

You can always ignore someone and put a block on their ability to send you email.

If you actually feel physicially threatened by the person, I would go to the police.

That depends. Some ISPs actually take complaints directly from their customers.. and pursue them. Some times you have to report the e-mail to the provider from which it was sent.

Soemthing that USUALLY works is to forward the e-mail to abuse@domain.com (where domain.com is the same domain that the user sent the e-mail from).

You should know that some people are very insecure and when afraid all animals are dangerous; try the F.C.C. Best wishes and good luck.
