Ok I understand that some people are just terrible spellers. My husband is a bad speller, he is always asking me to spell (what I think) are simple words. He says "My brain has too much other info to have to know how to spell when there is spell check". My point is when I am reading stuff on here I see so many mispellings. There is spell check on here so why dont people use it? I know some people shorten words and do the internet lingo thing.

I don't have a problem with helping my husband spell words one bit. He uses spell check. Plus I would rather him ask me for help then look illiterate.

It's a very good question, I've often thought about that as well, i think a lot of it is just people who write the way they speak, and who have created their own alphabet to sound "cooler" while they talk online, or somtimes it comes down to sheer laziness you know? All we can do is when talking to someone over AIM or Yahoo or any other thing correct them politely over and over until they get the message.

I think some people are just too lazy to press the "Check Spelling" button. Perhaps they want to get their answer out there faster than everyone else. But beyond that, I think that the average American's spelling ability has gone down drastically from when I was in school. Chalk that up to either schools' placing less of an emphasis on it, or we're getting dumber as a whole. I'm not sure which. The majority of errors I see are not so much spelling, but a case of not knowing the difference between words such as it's and its, they're and their, You're and your, and so on. Makes me cringe.

I sometimes get carried away and forget to spell check. I'm a very good speller so it usually isn't obvious but I'm sure I'm not the only one who ever just wants to get on with it. Sometimes I intentionally skip the spell check if I know I'm using jargon and abbreviations or technical terms that the spell check doesn't recognize.

i believe it just plain miscommunication between you, who i believe is a well educated being, however, please consider that some are not that fortunate as you to have all the knowledge. Be reminded that most user of the Internet are nerds and that some of their lingo we can't understand too. i myself doesn't know java language or pascal so i don't mind their spelling or what as long as by looking at their words i learn more.

dont get too much worried about this small thing. this might appear to be a big problem to you, when looked into from any common man point of view--it would be a normal mistake. just think! we have lot of even bigger issues in our lie than worrying about misspelling in writing.
take time, think over this & talk to ur hubby, i am sure he's a nice guy & will understand you. dont try to express your distress at the very instant he asks yu something. answer him then & just forget it. even if yu are not aware of it, say that in a pleasant way.
afterwards when he's free, in a happy mood, just bring this issue to his notice. tell him how much disturbing it would be to yu & ask him to look into the spellcheck in future. good luck!
