Very personal question: The idea of being hypnotized really turns me on. It has since I was in highschool and volunteered for a stage show. I love everything about it and find it very erotic...my boyfriend says I'm a weirdo and I think he might be right. Anyone else feel that way...or should I seek counselling?

Youre not weird, its just that not many people that Ive met have the same reaction to hypnotherapy. Im sure there are thousands of people across the world who feel the same way, they probably have a website devoted to it, you just have to look. I dont think you need to seek help either, you are just being true to yourself, and you arent doing anything illegal so. Why not?

I'm not a personal fan of hypnotism. However, it can work to a person's benefit in they believe in it and let go of the self.

Your erotic interest in it is a little weird, simply because it is not an erotic thing. It's an alternative therapy used by certified individuals.

You aren't weird at all. You have a curious mind that is intrigued by things that are mysterious and unusual. This makes you interesting, actually, and willing to explore different things. If you were to use it ALL THE TIME and specifically as a constant, singular erotic tool, then it might pause for concern. It may speak to other issues that might require counseling. But as a general thing? Nope. You aren't weird.

At least your boyfriend believes in counseling...but before you give yourself a bad rap try looking more closely at this yourself. Maybe you have a [not so] hidden desire to give up control in your life? You identify yourself as being smart; are you in a position of authority in your job/profession? Maybe you'd like to blow it off at times? Try some roll playing. OR maybe you are fascinated with the potential your mind has yet to unleash? Maybe the part that turns you on was being up on stage; try community theater or taking a class. Unless you are totally out of touch with yourself/life and behaving compulsively I doubt if you need counseling. Have fun!!

it doesn't sound all that strange, really. a lot of people are attraced to that idea - not hypnotism, exactly, but the idea of being out of control in a controlled environment. Of, basically, letting go of all inhibitions, without any fear of getting into trouble, or doing anything wrong.

define weird.

to me you sound like a free thinker with an open mind to experience the unusual

Try do some study in hypnotism and find out why you like it, you also might meet like minded people.

As for you boyfriend he is probably to close minded for you

I have heard of weirder things. You do not need counselling for that. They might try to hypnotize you and have their way with you.

As long as your fantasies don't involve having sex with; children, animals, or hurting someone - you're normal. Your boyfriend sounds like an ******. Anyone who tries to make you feel bad for being you, is an ******.
