When I was in the Army, I was in Basic Training during Thanksgiving. I did not get to come home, although some did that lived close by. My hometown was too far away. That was a long time ago though. Things change.

Didn't when I was in....Thanksgiving is only a 4-day weekend, not worth the money to travel. So, they 'should' get Leave *guess it is called Exedus now* for Christmas for 10-14 days....I did as well as my DH did when he went thru BCT..

That's totally up to his or her commanding officer, but if the commanding officer in charge has a heart, then yes he or she should let there soldiers come home for Thanksgiving.

Who gets to come home for Christmas?!

I reported to Parris Island on Dec 18, and I didn't see Foreign (American?!) soil until March 14 of the next year.

Only in the Army are you able to go home on Christmas exodus and even then if your behind on what your supposed to be doing at that stage in your training you will more likely not be able to go home.

Haha NEVER EVER.

The only time they can go home is death of a direct family member.
