Because if you work at a restaurant, you are the publics whipping boy, or so they think. What a bunch of spoiled, middle aged brats. They should be ashamed of themselves, the way they treat service people. They ought to be glad they live in a country where they can get food cooked for them and brought to them, instead of acting like the food industry should cater to their every little bratty whim. They have no tolerance for human error. I wonder how they would like it if we went to their job and acted the way they to when they come to ours! They should be shot for brattiness and stupidity alone. OOps, there I went, venting again

fast food restaurant managers take heed!!!.....now, i try not to be 'pissy', but it is a big pet peeve of mine to go into a fast food place, have your order taken, be interrupted in the ordering process, not have it repeated to you, get back out to the car with the kids, the bags of food, (or in the drive through either, and that is the most famous place for being interrupted during my order process...i usually have large orders for my large family and never get to finish my order without being interrupted at least once)..only to get in the car, rummage around, and find out that i'm missing some of the food i ordered and paid for, or worse, don't check it good enough in the car (which i feel shouldn't have to be done in the first place, the order should be checked in the restaurant), and get all the way home and be missing something one of my family members wanted for dinner! and whether you do catch it before you leave the parking lot,(which, if you go back in and get your missing items, your other items will be mostly cold by then, or certainly not as hot as the new missing item)...or if you're offered a free item (if you get all the way home without something), you still have to spend your time and gas (which, using the gas makes it not so "free" doesn't it?) to go and get it. either way it's just a pain! The order should be listened to by the order-taker, ask if there's anything else, repeat the order back to the person ordering it, then once it's assembled, make sure everything they ordered is in the bags, and make sure all bags get to the person. And standard amounts of condiments such as ketchup and salt, or sauce for chicken, should be a given, not have to be requested, as should straws, napkins, forks, etc. Sorry, but you asked, and you just hit a pet peeve of mine, so I had to answer. Have a great night.

The pressures of modern life, plus a whole dose of arrogance. They think they are the center of the Universe and you are there just to do their bidding and take abuse into the bargain.
People need to go on special courses about how to speak to others in a service environment. I truly think that!
As for your part, you are going to have to find ways to stand up to them without being rude. Keep them informed of how long their order will take but don't be harassed into serving them out of order just because they make the most noise.
Keep smiling and take control!

Because stupidity is everywhere, and they have a lot to learn, I've seen that before and how they treat people, they act like it's the end of the world, obviously you have to take it for what it is, low people with low lives and no manners, (nevermind class)
Hang in there dear, but learn how to be firm in a nice way and stand up for yourself, just tell them, they will get their order perfect just how they like it and no need to get upset, ha ha, good luck! Be witty and sarcastic at the same time, attack them with love and just laugh it off, laugh at them for how pathetic they are, maybe they'll end up laughing with you, throw in some joke or cute remark, you know what I mean?

For some people the only power they feel they have is abusing waiting staff as they have little to no authority in their own lives. Don't stress about them they're not worth your effort.

People just want to be heard. If you can't hear them in the first place..maybe you need a new job.
Do the job right or go away.
How is that for pissy?
