First of all, this happens to us all.

Do not allow anyone to tell you that it doesn't.

I know that when it happens to me, I can look at my life and see how I have fallen away from what God wants from me.

I know that I need to get back into "secret" prayer, meaning a private spot with no interuptions, take my bible with me and just pray and talk to God, let everything out that you are feeling and thinking, God already knows how far away you feel, he wants you to pray about it and think about it, and he will show you the way back to him. Make sure when you do this that you have no interuptions, just time with you and God all alone together.

Just remember that God is always there. Usually when not hearing or feeling far from God I try to focus on how I may have walked away or perhaps I'm trying to make all the decisions and not letting God be God. I then tend to be pulled back, gently reminded and I respond to that invitation.

Pray about it, relax, perhaps do some charitable work, help out a friend, etc. Maybe something in your life is distracting you? A problem you are avoiding? Something unheathly you are clinging to? Could also just be a normal part of being a human.

Change your view point a bit, God is there and always in control. If you are lost, admit it, look up, wait for direction and then expect it to come.

I felt lost quite a bit as a kid/teenager. I think its normal and it does pass. (or perhaps I'm more comfortable in my unfamiliar surroundings?)

Take care,
-Rob

Sometimes God has already given us the word that we need -- and other times when he seems far away, he is really right there. I've been there before and oftentimes reading the bible or a sermon from church will lead me in the direction that god wants me to go.
Don't expect any lightnight or loud voice to come down. Seek him -- and also remember to pray that he clears your mind and heart of anything that would keep you from hearing his voice.

God Bless you!

First of all people shouldn't expect to hear a voice as in a human voice. Not that this hasn't happened before, as in Saul's (Paul's) conversion where he heard a human voice from God. But God is Spirit and He usually communicates with us, His believers, via the internal Holy Spirit that every believer is given at their Salvation. Humans though can grieve the Holy Spirit within by the sins we allow in our lives and that hampers the communication channel with God. The Holy Spirit is there though living with your inner spirit and takes your prayers to God and also answers them. God also ask that we have patience and seek God's will in our prayers and request. Sometimes the answer from God comes in giving us peace about a difficult decision or causing us difficulty with other decisions. Prayerfully listen with your heart and mind and you should be able to hear God's reply to you.

I always pray, this keeps me close to him. I have bible verses on my homepage and on my desk at work. I receive "The Good News" a free magazine put out by the Church of God every 2 months.I surround myself everyday with the word of God, so even when I feel God is far away, or hearing his words are difficult,I am reminded that he isn't. I may have to look a little harder and listen a little closer, but he is always here for us. Surround yourself with his word, and pray. pray, pray. God Bless!!

The greatest obstacle to hearing God is the chattering mind. If you can get into centering prayer and learn to quiet the chatter, you would have a better chance of hearing the Holy Spirit. When there's so much inner noise, He can get drowned out real easy.

I agree with the first answer. If you know that you are far from God, seek him out. He is waiting for you. God wants nothing more than for you to see him. He would see you out if he could, but that would interfere with your free will. Go to Church, volunteer with a Church group (what I do when I feel far from God) and pray alot. Surround yourself with God minded people, that will help. Stay away from the things and people that will lead you to stray from God. Good luck, God bless.

1) When hearing that God isn't easy, I immediately go and look for another woman. It's just not worth the effort, especially if you have to repent for all your sins, I mean I'm just gonna look for another woman/deity that puts out.

2) You are far from God.. he's way the hell up there. Like.. like.. past the stars.. and stuff. Or something.

Don't push yourself too hard, or make yourself feel unworthy because you don't feel you're getting anything. Remember who you are, remember what your beliefs say about your relationship to God, and take the pressure off yourself. If you've asked and you truly believe you can hear, sit back and wait for the answer to come--don't miss it in looking too hard for it.

God will always answer your prayers, but remember (and this is the hard part). God answers in his time. Once he waited 9 years to answer one of my prayers. All I am saying is pray, and accept that the answer he gives might not be hat you want.

Good luck. I would be happy to pray for you if you want to contact me
