Treatment consists of reducing discomfort and preventing infection. Household remedies aimed at killing the chigger are unlikely to help with the itching, since the larva frequently have dropped off before treatment is started.
The affected area should be kept clean by washing with soap and water.
A topical hydrocortisone cream, antihistamine, or local anesthetic may be of value in reducing the itching. Consult your physician or pharmacist.
The wounds should not be scratched, if possible. Clip fingernails short to limit damage to the skin.
If signs of infection occur, consult your physician.

Rub damp table salt or rubbing alcohol on the affected area. Baking soda has been known to work as well or bathing in Clorox water. I had Chiggers in 2001. Did you know that there are bugs under your skin eating you alive? That is why you itch. These methods will dry the bugs out and kill them. Remember to moisturize afterwords with a healing lotion.

Other than using calamine lotion or benadryl for the itching there's not much you can do. Try a preventative next time you go outdoors, an insect repellant that contains 10 to 30 percent deet works well. If you continue to scratch you can get a nasty infection from those open welts, if you do, go to your doctor and he'll prescribe something for the infection. I hear they are nasty creatures. I'd sit myself in a cool bath with some oatmeal to relieve the itching, what the heck...it works for the chicken pox.

a paste of baking soda applied to the chigger bites will help with the itching and taking a benadryl will help with the residual itching if the paste doesn't help it completly. Also taking an ibuprofen might help with the inflammation.

The bleach in the tub remedy is what most people use. Those critters really get in your skin and this draws them out. You will need calamine lotion or insect bite cream for when you get out of the tub.
