There are a lot of kids who are going to grow up to be engineers and scientist. Lots of them were weened on a steady diet of sci-fi and in their mind they say wow can I make one of those. If you ever get to see the discover channel show on spy-tech it will blatantly tell you that the government with routinely rip off ideas from Hollywood.
You ever flip open you cell phone and had the urge to saw beam me up Scottie. Science fiction does tend to have a lot of science reality base theories. Trust me they have to, because many of their reader will writing in and complain about inaccuracies of they don't. So yes in a way science fiction sometimes become science fact.
I am still waiting for my ray gun, space travel, jet pack and cute alien babe but for now I'll do with faster ways to process information being able to contact my friends. The horror of a space base defense grid and lushness and diversity of terrestrial women. Don't be surprise when humanoid robots and intelligent homes and clothes come out for everyone. I pretty sure this will happen with-in our life time. Plus all those bio-medical advances everyone predicting and I can't wait for cleaner energy myself.

So then, an insight. Very good. You get it, or at the least you're starting to. It's the magic of our species. What we invoke, or say; becomes. When we write it, or sing it; it gets stronger. It, as you've inferred; becomes. A very nice example ( In fact one of my favorites at that! ) is the two words that has put us on the common path we all share now. The words are change and constant. Never before these days were they together, they contradict each other. With words being written, by the common folk; it wasn't until these two words found themselves together that the roller coaster began. Linked they became an invocation. Constant change. Before things were more or less static. What is thought of in fiction becomes, when written or spoken. Accepting,or believing is the key to make the magic work. Deny and it goes away. We do manipulate our world, we all do it. In the physical, in the intangible. There is an awful lot going on we may never understand, that we understand or not isn't relevant to this. It is all in the accepting. I wonder what comes next for us all. I would hazard that anything is possible, yet I've grown careful about what words I choose when considering it all. Perhaps all this is why the Druids didn't write things down. Smart Druids. Good question, thank you for asking it.

Disagree. The correct way to put this sentence is:
Those WHO write fiction also write the future.

My mother has pointed out that there are certain things that were "fiction" in the old Star Trek series (with Captain Kirk) that actually came to be developed and are real things today.
I personally think it's hilarious that--there's a scene in the movie "Clueless" where everyone's cell phones ring at once and they all take their calls at the same time while sitting at the same table, totally ignoring each other. At the time the movie was new, people laughed uproariously at that and were shocked by the behavior. Today, however, that very same scene is extremely real...you see it happening all the time in restaurants, etc.

Disagree, The future is known Christ shall return soon so for people to be writing about future events that are 100's or 1000's of years away is pointless.

Nora Roberts does not particularly write the two of those.... nicely in case you like vampires there is the Twilight series. (can no longer keep in mind the author). Anne Rice writes approximately vampires. in case you like fantasy that's extra with dragons, magic, knights, etc in them those are some good authors: Robert Jordan Terry Goodkind Terry Pratchett EDIT: incredibly specific Spielberg in basic terms makes video clips. Michael Crichton wrote Jurassic Park and that i'm incredibly specific megastar Trek books are written by a great form of different human beings. that's all i can think of of surprising now.

I agree, especially science fiction.
"I'm sure we would not have had men on the Moon if it had not been for Wells and Verne and the people who write about this and made people think about it. I'm rather proud of the fact that I know several astronauts who became astronauts through reading my books."--Arthur C. Clarke
But why is this in the religion section?

I do know this: I like it. I think initially I agree, but I'm going to have to roll it around in my head for a while to pull the full meaning from it. I think I'll still agree.
