Write down what the voices say.

Take that report with you and see a psychiatrist. Go through all the details and ask for his opinion. I have no idea what he's going to say or ask you.

And do this right away --tarry not.

Hearing voices is not normal.

For several years I heard a voice and it was very positive and "helpful", so I didn't question it. Years down the line it progressed and ended with having me write weird letters to my pastor. His response was not what I expected and I knew something was wrong. Ended up I have bipolar disorder, since treatment and staying on my meds I haven't heard from "him" (my voice) since.

Please don't wait to see what happens, see a doctor/ psychiatrist ASAP.

Also, consider other symptoms such as feeling like you have ESP, premonitions, being psychic, along with sleeplessness, being over hyper at times, overly tired; Google mental disorders and see if anything sounds like you. The more info. you can tell your doctor the better he/ she can help you. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to tell your doctor, he/ she's a professional and deals with this all the time. It's a lot more common than most people think.

Good luck!

Serious?! I'm going on a leap of faith that you are. Typically, I'd say that hearing voices is not a good thing. But I wouldn't jump to any drasctic conclusions yet. There are several psychological disorders that can cause this phenomenon, such as Schizophrenia ,Psychosis and Psychotic depression. Many recreational drugs can also be a cause (cocain, LSD, etc.) But there are over 600 common perscription drugs that can cause such a thing. See http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/h/hallucination/medic.htm#medication_causes_list for a full list.
I recommend going to a doctor and talking about it. Make sure that your doctor knows your full medical history, what drugs -perscription, over the counter, and just between you and him/her recreational that you are taking. I'm sure that they'll help you get to the bottom line of things and it may turn out to be something a lot less scary than you think.
Good luck and don't freak out.

It depends what you mean...

Everyone that thinks to themselves can effectively hear voices, as you are thinking it's almost as if you can hear what you are thinking. In this case, obviously there's nothing wrong there!

But if you can actually hear voices, that is saying stuff of no relevance to what you are thinking, then that's a bit odd. I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing, everyone will have their own opinions as to which it is - like with most things. As long as you remain in control of your actions, and simply listen to 'the voices' and not do anything stupid, then that's ok. If it gets to a point where you are dependant on these voices, basing your life on what the voices are saying.... get help!

Well it could be....especially the burn down the school part and inciting people to argue. The don't be mean part doesn't really fit.

Tell your family doctor and he/she'll schedule you for a visit with a psychiatrist or psychologist.

I think hearing voices (even the good ones) is probably not a very common thing. It will be better if you check it with a doctor.

Wow. You should probably get that checked out. Even if they aren't telling you to burn down the school, it is still not right.

You might be hearing other peoples thoughts. Some people have the ability to hear the things in others' minds and perceive them as 'voices'. It is also possible that you are hearing the thoughts of spirits who have died but not accepted it yet. Either way, be cautious listening to them as they may not be friendly.

If you mean you are being advised by God, that is one thing. If you mean someone is talking to you, that is another story altogether. If they are arguing, not good either. I suggest you see a counselor to see why this is happening. What is going on all of a sudden that this is happening, you need to find out.

It indicates that the individual has an altered mental state and is hearing things that nobody else hears. Is it induced by illicit drug use? If not, this person does need professional help.
