I recently got a new puppy, and the breeder fed him Science Diet, which I definately do not want to feed him (due to their subpar ingredients). After much research, I want to give him Castor & Pollux puppy food or the basic Dick Van Patten's Nature Balance dog formula. Does anyone have a preference/suggestion and why? Thanks!

I have used Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance for years. One of my dogs has allergies. The Venison formula has helped with that. My other dog is on the regular formula. Both of them love it. Their coats our beautiful. One of our vets uses it for her greyhounds, and they've done really well on it, too.

NB is a GREAT food! I used to feed it, but it just isn't enough protein when I am running my hounds. But for most dogs, it is a good choice.

I never tried either of those. I feed my pup Solid Gold. It has no corn or fillers.
