how closely are they related and am i worried for nothing?...It's just a queasy feeling i get thinking about spider leg meat i guess...stupid, i know...

Simple, go catch some spiders and try out some spider meat, then you should be back with crabmeat in no time. And stop watching too many spiderman movies while eating your crabmeat.

If spiders tasted as good as crabs there would be a whole lot less spiders in this world!!! Try to think of the difference of the two and not the similairities. Crabs hunt and their diet is completely different than spiders. Crabs tend to be meat eaters and well spiders just about anything that hits that web. Crabs are smooth hard shell bodies. Spiders are hairy, creepy looking insect. Not sure if this helps, but I believe when a person passes away, and if they are good in life ,, they will go to crab heaven, all the crab meat you can eat. Well , that and Crown Royal to drink.

I had a similar problem with pork after I visited a pig farm and smelled the stench of pigs wallowing in their own filth. Then I smelled that bacon sizzling and got over it. Hey, after I heard that some chinese food places use cat meat, it bothered me every time I ate "chicken" in a chinese food restaurant, but I figured "Heck, it tasted so good, even if it IS cat meat....I guess I like CAT".

be scared, be very scared... they're closely related to spiders, closer than you may think. when you eat a crab you are actually eating some kind of spider.

yup, I also love crab meat and am damn scared of spiders. but I don't relate them. crab is a seafood for me. get rid of those thoughts. better compare it to fish or shrimp.

hey I don't like the creepy crawlys either,
but Bring on the BIG RED LEGS!
Just think of it as getting back at the little critters that give you the creeps.
I can eat snow crab legs until you have to roll me out of there.
Just crack 'em dip em and mmmmm bring me some more!
I like to make a dip of ketchup/melted butter/lemon juice!

If you enjoy crabs, eat them every chance you get - and enjoy.
Lobsters, too. Now there's a delicacy - I don't care if they're related to earth worms or donkey dung - they are sooooooo good!

Think of the people who are not fortunate enough to have any kind of food.. none the less.. expensive crab meat.
