The Golden Eagle and the Bald Eagle...these are the only two I am aware of. The Bald Eagle has been filmed during its matting ritual. They are not matting but is part of the matting ritual. And as stated above; they mate for life.

the eagles do a courting dance while falling to earth but i don't believe they are actually mating that way (they do that on a steady limb)

Eagles - they mate for life, so it's all about trust. Actually it's all about they mate front to front and can't flap their wings. Other birds mate on the ground.
