First find out what she is weak in and get a 3rd grade math book from either the school or a library and find out a way that she will be able to understand what she is doing. Depending on the child you can make it a game or a challenge with a reward for each good grade she makes. Worked for all three of my children, and one of my children has ADHD.

If you go to your local teacher's bookstore they should be able to sell you some "skillpacks" that correspond with her grade level. You can work on those with her at home and try to make it fun with positive rewards (like, "if you get 10 correct answers we can watch TV for an extra half hour tonight" or "when you finish this lesson we will go have some ice cream") so she will be encouraged to work on this at home with you rather than looking at it like a punishment.

Also, my mom used to leave the price tags on all of the stuff in our pantry so we would go "shopping" in the kitchen and then I would ring up the food with a calculator and write her a bill. That was fun because I loved playing 'pretend'.

Teachers don't have a magic wand to wave and cause all their students to understand the subject. Some students need extra help which often the teachers don't have time to give. Therefore it is the parents job to help their kids learn!

Sit down with her and do extra math problems to get her brain clicking on the stuff. Practice is always good.

I found my eight year old to be very fond of money so I told him that for the right answers he would get to keep what we made into equations. He loved the visual! To actually handle money made him much quicker at adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication! Well that's what worked for us.

Homework and do games and stuff that involves math. It will help her in the long run ,it seems like when you struggle with math it just becomes harder and harder.
