This is my first time posting here, so sorry if it's a little clumsy ---
I am 17 years old (female) and from when I turned 9 until when I was 13 I was sexually abused by my stepmother. Is this incest?
Thank you.

Thank you for your answers and concern; I have told a therapist but I am for some reason unable to talk about it further. And it IS causing a great deal of "pain and anguish" -- I hardly think about anything else.
I'm not going to press charges -- I've forgiven her, but not myself.
One last question -- is it rape? (There was ATTEMPTED (not completed) penetration.) Sorry for the detail, but I really need to know....
Thank you so much again.

This is not incest, but it is illegal. It is tramatizing to you and can effect you the rest of your life. You need to talk to your therapist as much as possible.I know it is hard but it will bring healing.Just remember it is not your fault. Some ppl feel guilty and feel it is their fault because they "let it happened" or enjoyed it.Many victims will tell you that they allowed it, encouraged it, and enjoyed it, BUT that doesn't mean its their fault.Opray Winfrey was abused by her uncle and had a baby that died but she will tell ( as she did on her show) she felt guilty because it felt good to her. That is only human to like the feeling, even some very small abused kids don't tell because they love the feeling and attention, but she was the adult. This is her fault, she is in the wrong.Good luck!

Incest is defined as sexual relations of any kind perpetrated by a biologically or non-biologically related person functioning in the role of a family member. Other trusted adults also sexually abuse children and teenagers; these include: fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, stepparents, grandparents, coaches, baby sitters, clergy, teachers.

Yes, it's still incest and it's still sexual assault of a minor. Most states allow a period of time even after you've turned 18 to report such abuses, so that children who were abused but afraid to report can have the opportunity to come forward.

It is sexual abuse, no matter what else you want to label it. Please tell someone and get some help. This kind of thing can cause you years of pain and anguish unless it is treated by professionals. Press charges, if you can. God bless.

Incest by law. Definately child abuse. I'd do everything you could possibly do to get her behind bars legally!

Legally, it depends on the laws of your state, province, etc. In some U.S. states, even sex between in-laws is considered incest.
My personal opinion? Yes, what your step-mother did was incest.
Good luck to you now and God bless you.

Yes it's incest because she was a parent to you and even though you guys are of the same sex, it is still molestation.
