I know my mother is insane. So's my father. So's my kid's mother. And guess what, they're all Christian!

OK. First consider this: Insane and mentally ill are not one in the same. That being said, I believe also that your question is severely biased to your currently frustrating situation. Also, your question makes me wonder if you are my husband Hahaha Just kidding! I have noticed this correlation as well due to the circumstance that pretty much my whole family has been diagnosed with a mental illness of one kind or another. I am just awaiting my turn. When I last visited a place for mental health I was denied though. Anyways, I must agree with you. My mother (diagnosed bipolar in 1984) Is always seeking a new religious group. I attended at least 3 churches with her as a child. She never remained a member to one group longer than 2 years. My Cousin (diagnosed bi polar as well) has a lot of medications to take for several mental imbalances as well as cerebral palsy attends churh 3 times a week and loves to talk about or rather push religion on others. My aunt (Skitzo, diagnosed in '87) is also an alcoholic which in her own personal way is sort of a religion. My mother is also a drug addict and dealer. Too bad my family didn't produce any doctors....

I get suspicious when anyone tells me that all others are insane--but that they are THE NORMAL ONE!

Your Question>>Is this just mere coincidence, or are Christians the majority of people that suffer from mental illnesses?''

I do not believe this to be factual..Please post your survey information of a URL where the statistics are posted.

And you got this fact from ??????

Oh, no place, you just made it up.

As a % of population, Christians are not more or less likely to be diagnosed with mental illness. However, there is a stigma associated with mental illness (if you would have written majority of people that suffer from asthma guess it wouldn't have sounded quite so good).

Many religious groups do not believe in mental illness, heck some don't believe in doctors, if you die it's because you didn't have enough faith.

So why don't you ask a question with some fact behind it?

Mental illness know no religion. It may just be the case that as North America is predominately Christian, they are the ones that get reported the most in the literature.

If you want to get technical, though there are some Christians with mental illnesses, it is usually the non-religious/atheists/agnostics who become mentally ill and sometimes they become Christians (or other religions) after that.

Not a coincidence. Like all religions, Christianity attracts people with weak personalities and mental instability. (I mean, it could have no possible attraction for well-balanced, rational people in the 21st century.)

Well you look at all the social path out there most not all don't have any religion and never had.

Then you got the real crazy ones that kill and still go to church, and use the church as a cover up for the murders

1) The person who says "I am surrounded by idiots" is because HE/SHE is the King/Queen of idiots. So likewise, maybe you're the nutcase here.

2) If they are really mentally ill, or demon possesssed, they have the power Luke 10:19 to cast out the devil in Jesus' name.

If you loved someone sooo much, more than anything in the world, and you knew that that person was going to be brutally tortured, it would be a little tough for you to just sit by, and smile, like everything's just peachy!!!!! No worries at all, right?
