The Holy Spirit is a personality of God. Your identity is in your soul. Your soul and the Holy Spirit are not the same. Some non-Christian cults/religions will disagree with this answer.

The Holy Spirit is the sanctifier. The soul is the sanctified.

The Holy Spirit is a part of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. Both titles are used interchangeably. Your soul belongs to you and the Holy Spirit belongs to God.
