Do you get roommates and if so will they all be the same gender or is it by random?

Yes you get one roommate to live in the dorm with you. You can request to live with a friend, or you can go "potluck" like I did and get some random person. It will definitely be your gender though. Dorming was a crazy experience for me, I hope you enjoy it.

Depends on whether you stay in a dorm or you rent an apartment. Typically a roommate would be the same gender. I don't know about any colleges that allow co-ed rooming. I know there are co-ed dorms (my girls won't be going to those schools), but I don't believe there is co-ed rooming.

It all depends on where you go and what housing arrangements you make.
Generally in campus housing (housing owned by the school), they will not blindly mix genders for roommates. There are co-ed dorms, but even, the various halls are usually segregated by gender.

Same gender at all schools. If it's coed, that means the building is a mix of male and female. But you should be assigned same sex roommates.... unless you're gay.

Depends on what college. I believe most colleges have same gender roomates for freshman. My college is always same gender roomates. Your hall however can be coed. Most everyone gets a roomate unless you request a single which most schools might not have.

in the us, every college is different. In state colleges you can be in a room by yourself or in a room with up to 3 other people. your roommate will always be of the same sex but you can sare floors and even bathrooms with the opposite sex.

Yes you get room mates (if you're staying in a dorm). The ones I know are all same gender.
