Just a couple of things... not all Mexicans are part Indian, as you stated. Some of us are also of Spanish, French, German, Chinese and other descents. For example, I am part German, Spanish, French and Yaqui. However, my boyfriend is strictly of Spanish descent. His family came to Mexico from Spain in the early 1900s. By the by, the Yaqui Nation has a reservation in the U.S. so that would actually qualify me as 1/8 Native American. One last thing, Mexicans are racially identified as "caucasian."
And yes, the border did move, not the people. However, I am not sure why the fact that a part of the U.S. once belonged to Mexico makes a case for gaining legal status on land that no longer is under the jurisdiction of another people regardless of how the change of "ownership" took place. If that were the simplistic case, then all the people of European descent would need to move back to their native lands and the only people left in America would be the Natives, Mexicans, American Indians, Alaskans and other Native peoples who originally inhabited the area. However, when will the cutoff be to be considered Native? Before Columbus so-called "discovered" America? Before the land bridge in what is now Alaska allowed people to migrate from northern Asia to the Americas? Seriously, when would be the cutoff?
I understand exactly what you mean about the reasoning of this particular group of Mexicans. How can they believe their argument holds water? It's like if I showed up at my old house and told the people who live there now to get out because I am moving in since I lived there before them. How long do you think it would take for me to get arrested?
Please do not take this to be the opinion of all Mexicans. Just this opinionated one.

The present day Mexicans.... it doesn't matter if they are 100% Native Central American.... NEVER lived in the USA or any part of it.... Therefore, they have absolutely NO CLAIM, legal or otherwise to any part of America.... mexicans belong in mexico.
Mexicans have lived all their lives (the legal part) in Mexico.... and if they are in the USA illegally, they are living the criminal part in a criminal manner in the USA by STEALING.
I cannot imagine why they would want those states to be a part of Mexico... within ten years, the standard of living would be identical to the present standard of living in Mexico today. Then what?
They would want more and more of the USA... and it too, would decline into a poverty stricken waste land like Mexico.... STEALING from the USA is not the answer....
Ridding Mexico of its CORRUPT CRIMINAL government is the answer...
Deserting Mexico will not help Mexico or the USA, it just makes criminals of those Mexicans who cross the border illegally.
While here illegally, Mexicans are ignorantly the slaves of the Castilian ruling class in Mexico...
Illegal alien Mexicans steal from the USA, they send money to relatives in Mexico, the relatives spend the money, the money ends up in the hands of the ruling class Castilian Spanish.... and the cycle repeats.....
Until the Mexicans QUIT DESERTING their country, they will continue to be slaves of the Castilians ruling class....
Returning and putting up a fight for their rights and freedoms is the only way to better Mexico.... the ONLY way to end their life of CRIME, the only way to a better life in Mexico for all Mexican citizens....
No, their Indian blood doesn't mean SQUAT.... Legal Americans with Indian blood have prior claim to the land..... Illegal aliens have NO CLAIM to anything in the USA, NO RIGHTS, they are CRIMINALS.....
and the illegal aliens do understand that... why else would they hide from the law...? and use false papers... it is because they are ashamed... and they know they are nothing but criminals... there is nothing else an illegl alien in the USA can lay claim to, ignorance, and ignorance of the law is NO EXCUSE>>>>

Why should Mexican nationals that entered this country illegally be allowed to stay. Mexico, through General Santa Anna, forfeited the right to claim Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Or is the Treaty of Guadalope not suddenly valid? Can the Mexican government be expected to honor its treaty obligations? Perhaps we should return most of the Mediterranean, near east and southern Europe to the Romans, afterall they conquered it, or to Greece, Alexander the Great also conquered it. Shouldn't the Aztec and Mayans own Mexico then - they weren't Mexicans and lost their territory through violence and conquest.

The Mexicans who were here when the states became part of the US are now Americans. No one who wasn't in those states has a claim to them.
That is like saying I have a claim to the oil in Iraq because my people once came from Germany and Germany was part of the Roman Empire and so was Iraq.

It's completely specious, and if this nonsense continues, there's no substitute for enlisting all state and local law enforcement in the cause of disgorging Mexico's population right back where they came from.
For years, we've had lenient border policy with Mexico, allowing 'guest workers' to come in to feed their families etc.
But, to all appearances, we're about to have a re-enactment of some fairly ugly history, so maybe it's time to start thinking about completing that border fence...and arming the border patrol with something more than stern words...
