My boyfriend lives in America, while I'm in Canada. We plan on marrying and moving in together when he is finish school next year. The past Sunday, he texted me saying I could call him if I wanted (I got a package for calls to the US but his phone provider doesn't have that option), so I couldn't at the time because I was at work, but when I called him that night, I got no answer. I texted him, still nothing. Finally, I texted him, saying we needed to talk. He texted me back a little bit afterwards, asking what was wrong, and I asked him could we talk on the phone, and he said he couldn't, so I asked why, and he said his friend just got shot and they don't know if he's gonna make it, and that he needed to keep his phone lines open, just in case. He told me that it's not me, it's him, he's going through alot of **** right now. Does this sound like he may wanna break up with me? He still won't pick up or text me. I am really worried here.

He is normally the type of guy that would break up with a girl by actually saying it to her, instead of ignoring her.

It's not you, it's me. It's so cliche. Have you watched Sex N' the City? Move on. He's not the only guy out there. If it's meant to be he'll come back. Stop calling him and let him know that if he doesn't have time for you, you're not just going to wait around. Have fun, life is too short!
About the poor friend who was shot - usually when you're the guy's bestfriend, all he'll ever want to do is talk to you and share with you his concerns, etc. So that is odd that you're the last one he'd want to talk to.

Well, give him the benefit of your doubt. Just stay calm and quiet while you are waiting for the final answer to your question which your boyfriend alone can give you.
If he is that type of guy as you said he is, then, I'm sure that he will frankly tell you if he no longer loves you. But if until now, he has broken off with you yet, then, may be he has valid reasons not to talk to you for a while. Give him time to do what he is busy with right now. I believe, he will let you know about them soon.
What you should do is try to understand him and should he talk to you one of these days, don't mention anything about your doubt for his love for you, He may not like that at all. Good luck.

Give him a few more days. Some people are just introverts and prefer not to talk when things are wrong. If you haven't heard from him in the next few day, contact him again and tell him that you would like clarification of where you stand with the relationship.

Well, if his friend was shot, probably that got things messed in his head. I don't know what happened, and maybe you don't (unless you've got lucky and was able to talk to him), but he is probably scared and don't know what to do.
Sometimes, we men, when we're in a bad situation, tend to shut up while most women tend to talk and let out their emotions.
I don't think that he's thinking on breaking with you, but I really can't tell. Give him the benefit of doubt.

He loves you but i get a feeling he is seeing someone. Or his friend really got shot and he has a hard time dealing with it. Just give him time. If he wants to break up, then its his lost not yours:)

Sounds like he's avoiding you, but it could be the extenuating circumstances. If he says that it's not you, it's him, that means, and I am dead serious," It's not you, it's HIM that doesn't want to be with you." sounds tough, but sometimes guys just want to head on down the road.
