I am sorry to say, but if you cannot afford the adoption then you sure as heck cannot afford to raise a baby properly.

**Disclaimer: I live in Texas so my knowledge is based on Texas laws**
If you would like to adopt a baby, and can't afford the fees most places are charging, I would advise you look into becoming a foster parent for newborns (with option to adopt). There are many requirements and you would have to check with your state. There is also the potential that your infant does not go up for adoption and you may be already attached. If the baby does go up for adoption, most states give the foster parents the option of adopting the baby. The state also refunds you the cost of adoption.
The reason I know this is because my in-laws are foster parents and they adopted a 1 yr old last year. They had her since she was discharged from the hospital. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. I wish you luck in your adoption endeavors.

I must say the people who are snarky have no clue. it's about 80k to adopt. I am guessing they don't have that sitting around in the bank when a typical American couple make about 35k a year and have household bills. Adopting special needs children runs over 30k and is not refundable. You could pay for a few years of college with that. For babies desperate for home sit sure does cost a lot. taking advantage of people who would make great parents

There was just a specialist on "The Today Show" talking about this. She said that if you adopt from the Foster care system, you should not have to pay. And the government can even pay you for care of the child. But the one thing that she did stress if you plan on adopting is to DEFINITELY get a professional and get all the information you can from them before you adopt. Because if you do it yourself and you don't really know what you are doing you can end up getting completely screwed in the end.

The cheapest way I know is open adoption. That's when you go through a lawyer and the birth mom/parents but even that is expensive. If I where you I would become a foster parent.I was never a foster kid I was adopted through open adoption but my parents are foster parents.Being a foster parent is just as rewarding as adopting a child.plus they give you financial help to take care of the child.

In Madrid you may also find the absolute most fascinating places to go for a evening to keep in mind and can also be the brand new home of Flamenco because Madrid is alive with audio and passion. The countless beautiful areas and gardens give tranquil spots and areas like: Royal Palace, Royal Theater, Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Mayor Square, Prado Museum, Queen Sofía Museum, Gran Vía Avenue and Puerta del Sol reminds you why you choose that town for your vacation.

My suggestion is to contact a foster family agency and see if you can be a foster mom before jumping right into adoption. There are lots of kids who need a good home and it may be up your alley if you have a loving heart and desire to be a mom but not a lot of money. You never know what opportunities may become available to you. Good luck.

(I don't understand why someone on here took offense at your asking for a "cheap" adoption. The world is full of decent people who would like to adopt but don't have the money to pay thousands and thousands of dollars.)

I think the only way to adopt without paying the extremely high fees is to adopt through a state's foster care system, and tell them ahead of time you'd like to adopt a baby rather than (unfortunately for the older children) an older child. I have friends who adopted two infant girls that way (separately). Although you're taking the risk that a baby you care for won't be place for adoption the social workers often have a pretty good idea of which babies will probably be placed for adoption. I know of a baby adopted through the foster care system, and his parents paid only $3.00 for something like the probate court background check. When people of modest means adopt through the state child services department there may be an adoption subsidy available if the family meets eligibility requirements. Babies and toddlers through foster care are very often perfectly healthy babies.

These state agencies do, of course, have toddlers and older children who are hard to place; and there is a website with pictures of children. I checked it out to see if there were any babies or toddlers, and there are; but the ones on that site have severe, severe, and mulitple medical conditions that I wouldn't be able to easily handle.

I don't know what your financial situation is, but I would think it may be possible to look for a loan to cover the costs of a private agency. I don't know if this exists, but maybe some of the private agencies could tell you whether or not there is any kind of financial aid available. People get mortgages on houses to adopt as well.

I shouldn't bring up stuff I don't know about on "Answers", but just in case its at all an idea worth considering, maybe international adoption agencies know where people go to finance adoptions.

Since the foster care program is probably the only possible place to find an affordable adoption you may want to change your approach to looking, instead, for ways to finance a hard-to-afford adoption.

There are private adoptions. Expenses of the biological mother are usually paid. These can be risky because the mother may change her mind. They are handled by attorneys. There are sites that match up biological mothers with adoptive mothers, but not long ago some news program had a report about some biological mother who promised her baby to a bunch of different adoptive mothers.

There was once a thing on television about a bunch of black babies that are in Canada because someone has a policy that black babies must only go to black families, and because there aren't enough black families the babies are - for some reason - living in Canada. You may want to do a search about that to see if anything has changed with regard to who gets to adopt these babies.

the only cheap adoption is adopting an older child not a baby, there are thousand of people that are married with great jobs and are willing to pay 30k for a baby.
The chances of you getting a baby for cheap is very unlikely. If you dont have the money to adopt you shouldnt think of adopted. Raising a kid is no joke, kids are $500+ a month, and its more the older they get
