If so. What do you think of your experience? Any positives? Any negatives?

Yes; I went to the hospital in fourth grade because I had a sinus infection behind my left eye and bladder infection. Overall, it was a good experience. I got to get off school for a week, play free video games, watch movies, eat cookies. What I did hate was that they had to give me a lot of shots, and I had an incompetent nurse who kept missing the vein (they were trying to give me a shot on the back of the hand).

Yes both + and -. I had a c section, and this beoch of a nurse shoved me around calling me a baby a few hours after. If I was able I would of smaked her one, she was quite the idiot! I would not allow that evil creep in my room after that and cell phoned my husband right away so he could keep her away. It is not right or ethical to shove people around especially since the whole belly area was cut wide open, that was not by any means a proper nurse, she is lucky I do not see her I would punch her at anytime for what she did and see how she enjoys pain. On a lighter note I had a knee surgery in that same hospital and they were very kind and instead of being all paranoid about pain medicine they told me to keep taking what was prescribed to me and let them know if I had any pain so they could get me more or prescribe a different kind, they were much more caring and humane.

Yes, I was admitted last year 3 times on 3 different occasions.

My first visit was for 4 hours for diarrhea and dehydration. I ended up being admitted 2 days later and it wasn't the viral infection they thought it was.
NEGATIVES: Sure wish they hadn't sent me home! lol
POSITIVES: Rehydrated me and sent me home w/antibiotics

My second visit was 2 days after the first, in which I was admitted for 2-1/2 weeks and was found to have a strictured colon and ovarian cancer! So much for the viral infection! lol
NEGATIVES: A little slow in gettiing medicine
POSITIVES: Great doctors, great nurses, took good care of me

My third visit was 3 months after the second and was a 5 day say for a follow up surgery to the first.
NEGATIVES: None really
POSITIVES: Great doctor, wonderful nurses

more times than I wanted to remember.
Positives is that a hospital when you are really sick is a real nice place to go to. You are taken care of and do not have to worry about food, or anything.
Negative when you feel a little better you want out of there . the food sucks and the noise levels are high. the smells are bad and they drive you nuts with constant testing of blood pressure and temperature. and the doctor is always not coming around when you need him to.

I have. I don't remember much - it was all kind of a blur, but everyone seemed really nice, and took care of me pretty quickly. The doctor seemed a bit harried, and it was crowded (didn't even get my own room - there were like 10 of us in a room, separated by curtains).

But not a bad experience... well... considering I was in a hospital's emergency ward.

Yes, at least three times. All were positive experiences because the care was so excellent. All at Southern Maine Medical Center.

i'm unsure still... i was in the dying ward for 2 weeks.. tubes all over, couldn't think or even stay awake.. there was this perpetual "last rites" going on around me.

many questions about who i was, my religion, who was the president... if i knew where i was... so on.

pain killers even got the best of me.. yuck.

don't want it again, not for me or anyone i love it wasn't all that great.

even when i was moved from the icu 2... it was pretty bleak.. i realised i was peeing blood and i was on a machine.. and a catheter in me.... i had to stay in bed i couldn't even get up to stretch my legs it drove me bats.

always waking me up taking my blood pressure... taking my blood, taking tests.. wheeling me around putting me into huge machines making me lay there for long periods of time.. xrays, mri's... this and that.

they say it's a place for rest... heh, sure it is!

not!

rather rest at home with a beer and some good t.v. or a sunset with my pals instead.

i'm on many pills now to keep me alive but it's an improvement.. in many ways, least i'm not in pain anymore. going to the doctors alot is a drag but.. it's not icu 2.

i am thankful for those people who worked like crazy to bring me back to conciousness and help me get back on my feet. they sure are dedicated and very under appreciated folks.

:D
