What a coincidence I had the same problem .I remember to vividly and I still am traumatized about my expierience. I had moved into my first apartmen as bachelor. I felt lonely sometimes coming home to a empty home . So I decided to get a cat . the first thing I thought of was a cute playful kitty. I figured it would be an easy cat to maintain compared to a dog in a one bedroom apartment. so I went to the store to get all the kitty supplies suffice for my new pet . So i started to unpackage and apply the essentials to my kitten . I guess i was in a hurry cause I didnt read the instructions. One day One of my friend came over and noticed that i hadn't stretched the flea collar which you need to do to activate the flea poison. so she went head and activated it . and when she did fleas were every where in my apartment . I mean everywhere. If you know what I mean even in my privates so my first instinct was to bath . so I did and during my bath fleas began to rise to the top of my bath water hopping on the surface of the water so i figured the it would be over with . far from being it was hell i couldnt sleep for days i vaccumed with this

Why don't you get the flea drops for cats. Go to 1800pedmeds.com, Also buy a flea shampoo, let the cat dry and then put the drops. You will not die if fleas bite you, but Iam sure it has to be very uncomfortable.Cats can be bathe as often as you like as long as you get him used to it.
Before you do all this you have to put bombs in your house to fumigate and kill all the fleas that are already there.
Not only are you suffering with the bites but so is that poor cat.
If you buy their products on-line they keep sending you things over e-mail that give you discounts and credit.
I don't know how old you are but if you will get pregnant in the future make sure you cat has all his vaccinations up to date.
Hope this help you. Bathe in Oatmeal based products for your skin and bites to heal.

Adult fleas are not only a nuisance to humans and their pets, but can cause medical problems including flea allergy dermatitis (FAD), tapeworms, secondary skin irritations and, in extreme cases, anemia. Although bites are rarely felt, it is the resulting irritation caused by the flea salivary secretions that varies among individuals. Some may witness a severe reaction (general rash or inflammation) resulting in secondary infections caused by scratching the irritated skin area. Others may show no reaction or irritation acquired after repeated bites over several weeks or months. Most bites usually found on the ankles and legs may cause pain lasting a few minutes, hours or days depending on one's sensitivity. The typical reaction to the bite is the formation of a small, hard, red, slightly-raised (swollen) itching spot. There is a single puncture point in the center of each spot. (Ants and spiders leave two marks when they bite. Mosquitoes, bees, wasps and bedbugs cause a large swelling or welt). Also, fleas may transmit bubonic plague from rodent to rodent and from rodent to humans. Oriental rat fleas can transmit murine typhus (endemic typhus) fever among rats and from rats to humans. Tapeworms normally infest dogs and cats but may appear in children if parts of infested fleas are accidentally consumed.

I seriously doubt you'll even get a sniffle. Our immune systems are pretty sturdy. If kitty has fleas, wash him. It can be done. Put a 5 month flea collar on him that kills the fleas and the eggs. Spray down the house with Raid flea killer and egg killer. All will be well.

Also, put a flea collar in your vacuum bag so that when you vacuum up any fleas or eggs, they will die.

The cat should not be allowed back outside. Outdoor cats are subject to injury by cars, other cats and mean human beings. You will spend all the time, trouble and money in the world getting rid of the fleas, and the moment you let the cat back outside, they'll jump right back on him again.

There are flea-killing products out there.
If your fleas are off of diseased rats, you could get bubonic plague. But that is pretty slim odds.
Vacuum. Use a flea bomb. Treat the pets.
It'll work.
