The reason I ask is because as I was driving by a local Hooters, I saw an old lady on her walker with what appeared to be her son, daughter-in-law ( or the other way around ) and two young kids. LOL, I just never figured Hooters as a family dining place.

The funny part is the Hooters by where i live actually has a night where kids under 12 eat free. Yes the girls are dressed in less clothes than most waitresses but it's not like pantyhose and tube socks with hot pants is as sexual and inappropriate as taking your newborn to a strip club or something. The food is family friendly and i find it reasonably priced for the rep that Hooters has and the taste is good as well. So while many people would not consider it a "family" restaurant, i do believe that if the family is comfortable with bringing their young children there, that there is nothing wrong with bringing them.

I can't speak for ALL Hooters locations, across the country...I am only familiar with what goes on in the Hooters in my hometown.

Based on what I've observed: I would say yes, Hooters is a family-oriented restaurant. The place is staffed by attractive young women, who wear the skimpy Hooters uniforms. It's nothing more than a child (or an adult) would see if they went to the beach, or visited some stores in a local shopping mall.

The staff (again, in my experience) are friendly, and they make everyone feel welcome. If it's your birthday (or some other Special Occasion), they'll all get together and sing you a song, and give you a T-shirt (or some other souvenir). My sister is an elementary-school teacher, and one of her students often wears a T-shirt that says "I <> Hooters"...he got it on his 8th birthday. I don't think it's at all inappropriate...I think it's charming and funny.

For the Late-Night, college crowd, Hooters might not be quite so Family-Friendly. There's more of an adult-themed atmosphere at that time. But generally speaking, I think Hooters is a perfectly fine place to bring the kids (for lunch, or for a party).

Why not? Hooters is a restaurant like any other? Kids eat free on wed nights and it is a fun atmosphere for the whole family. I work at hooters on the weekends, and you wouldn't believe the familys that come in there. Women in groups come in there to eat. It isn't a strip club or anything of the sort. Hooters is a place where you're not only waited on but you are entertained by the hooters girls. There is singing and line dancing. We get our guests in on the activities. It is a fun place to be. On monday night football we have polls on the scores to get peope, involved. there is trivia nights and WINGO (like bingo) nights where people play games with the hooters girls. Hooters isn't just a restaurant, it is a place for you to hang out and make friends. We're always involving our guests in all aspects of eating there and having fun.

I don't think it's a family restaurant. If it was a family restaurant, it wouldn't have waitresses dressed in provocative clothing. Think of going there with young kids saying "mommy, what are those big round things on that waitress' chest?" or having the wife's husband ogling the waitresses (though that wouldn't make him a very good husband, it still happens). Hooters suck.

and how can you say it's a family restaurant? I mean come on, "hooters" has become synonomous with woman's breasts.

Yes, of course!

I grew up in a fighting family with my five brothers. Every meal together was a nightmare.

Hooters is like being with the sisters I never had and having a civil time over food. Great concept well executed. A plus.

well despite what those above say, Hooters is considered a family restaurant. and as for beverage service, most of this country is not a dry county. i'd say half the restaurants i've been in that represented themselves as a family restaurant have beverage service. maybe more.

edit>>as for the big boobs thing, think about this, Denny's uniforms have built-in padding and wires. ask your waitress.

No, this place is not a family restaurant and not a place to bring your kids, Especially young kids. You are right it is not a family dining place.

Yes. For MY family anyways. I would definitely take my husband and son there for dining and "entertainment". It just depends on the family. I mean if they can handle looking at large breasted women without being offended then, why not? It's not a strip club. It's just a themed restaurant. "Women with big jugs, serving you dinner."

no because of the tight clothes that tend to accent the breasts, legs, and butt

that's the only factor that makes it not

i used to consider any place that served alcohol to be a nonfamily restaurant. however, i grew up in a dry county.
