My husband's name is Brandon. My name is Shannon and our son's name is Shane. We are trying to decide on a name for our son that's due in January and we both like the name Brayden.
Now, say that to yourself...
Brandon, Shannon, Shane and Brayden.
We didn't try to pick names that are similar to ours, infact I don't like that they are, but we like the name...should we do it?

I wouldn't do it. I have a sister sharyn and i named my daughter Shannon. They are too alike and my daughter get's Sharyn at times from the family. With my pregnant brain I didn't realise the similarities but by the time Shannon was 4 months i regretted naming her Shannon. Think hard because you can't change it later

To be honest, "Brayden" sounds too similar to "Brandon" for me- beyond that, the name "Brayden" WILL become the shortened nick-name "Bray", which reminds me too much of the noise that a donkey makes. Last thing you want is your child's name being associated with a jack ***.

I like Brayden also. I don't think it sounds cutsie at all. Really, you all should just pick the name you like and not care what anyone else thinks. By the way, congratulations on your son's impending birth!!

First of all ~~CoNgRaTs~~ on your second son. I like the name Brayden, but it shouldn't matter what others think. If you and your husband like the name then go for it.

Brayden is nice. If you feel strongly about the name then its meant to be. I met a Bailen (or Baylen today) , that's a new one to me but I like that too.

I think that it sounds good, and if that is the name that you are your husband like it is even better. I for one like incorporating family names into kids names. all 3 of my girls have a family significance in thier name. i think that it gives a feeling of unity.
