I know he is not sick, he has been to the vet twice in the last week since he is new. It is just the normal "doggie" odor that I am smelling...I will use some of your ideas until I get used to "eau de puppie"

Thanks alot everyone!

just keep giving him baths and the baby powder thing does work. Never use human shampoo and conditioner on a dog because it can cause severe dry skin that will make ur dog itch like crazy. Also if your dog is an outdoor dog they will smell worse because of some of the things they can get into.

cool! domestic dogs are great. hah. ok, as quickly as a week may be perfect, yet once you are able to no longer try this then i might say actually two times a month. you probably elect to start bathing (considering the fact that he's a doggy) with the water point a pair of million/2 way up his legs. Get a cup or some thing and pour the water throughout his lower back, legs, tail, ears, etc... you comprehend... Then use the doggie shampoo and rub it into his fur. once you come to the neck, get his ears and under his jaw yet different than that don't do the face. He does not like that and being a starter you will possibly get some in his eyes in case you bypass from now on. After some adventure it will get less difficult around the face. besides, when you rub him down good with the shampoo, get the cup and start up pouring water over him lower back. Rub out each and all the shampoo...then after that, set a towel down onto the floor (lay it out flat) and set the doggy on precise of it. Then deliver mutually up the corners and rub him off, dry him as perfect as you are able to. we've a shitzu and he or she has reached a element that she's so use to it, she'll permit our dad actual blowdry her! hahaha. desire i helped! Having a doggy is going to be no longer trouble-free for a whilst (potty education, chewed fixtures, etc...) yet will exchange into VERY relaxing. -Tanner desire i helped! :D

Well since you know the "normal" dog smell Id have to say that if your pooch is smelling VERY strongly & unpleasant then there maybe a problem.....have you had him to the vet for all his shots & a over all check up??? you may want to chck his ears dirty ears on dogs can smell AWEFULL< to clean them just put a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and wipe out the dirt formin his ears try to get inside but dont use Q tips & poke deep inside obviously...also you may want to try bruching his teeth although puppies dont usually have bad teeth yet just puppy breath.....best bet though is to have your vet check him out could be any of number of things, if he's clean & eating healthy foods then he SHOULD NOT smell BAD, just like a dog

My friend has her child wipe their pups down with baby wipes every night. I use those wipes made for pets (Quick Wipes), but rarely. They cost more that baby wipes. I once bought Pet Aromatics--Honeysuckle Hound spray at a yuppy type pet store. Used to use a lot and loved the smell. Must've gotten use to dog smell, or she doesn't smell anymore, because I don't know when I last used this!

That's no good. sometimes puppies have a funny smell about them, or is it a smelly dog smell?

Go to your pet shop or local vet, You can get doggie deodorants & special shampoo's & conditioners!

What kind of dog do you have? Some of them have smells much stronger and more unpleasant than others - like dogs from the Hound family. They stink.

I use baby powder smelling dog shampoo on my dogs and it always gets out the nastiest odors...and they smell very good for awhile afterwards, even if they get wet they still smell like baby powder. they carry it every where..

My friend's bulldog had a severe skin infection, and he had a very bad smell. Tell your vet about it.
