The word christian means "one who follows christ" right? The word muslim means "one who submits to god" right? Since christians submit to god and follow Jesus, and since muslims subit to god and follow Jesus, why can't you both just be classified as the same religion, or two different sects of the same religion with some scriptural differences?

What do you think of my proposal?

Note: Even though muslims do not believe that jesus was "divine" neither do some christians. Also, arabic christians call god "allah" so they seem to be the same god.

Although Christianity & Islam are not the sects of the same religion, both are classified as "Abrahamic," because they trace their lineage to Abraham, just as Jews & Bahais do.

So in that light, your proposal is technically correct from a certain point of view(as Obi Wan Kenobi would say).

However, as actual denominations or sects of a very same religion they are not. You see, for Christians whether or not they believe in the Divinity Of Jesus(& the vast majority of Christians do), no Prophet is greater or higher than Jesus, Who Is Our Messiah & Saviour.

Muslims, although do acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, consider Muhammed to be the Greatest Prophet God Has ever Sent, including Jesus. Moreover, Muslims do not believe in the Crucifixion, Death, & Resurrection of Jesus, as Christians do.

That is why we are not & never will be the same faith.

WRONG!

"Christian" may imply "of the Christ" but Christians worship Jesus who is really JeZeus.

Muslim submit to the Will of Allah. The NAME of Allah.

Ilah is God in Arabic, but Allah is the Name of the Only True God (See John 17:3), and for one hundred and fourteen (114) times in the Quran, In the Name of Allah.

And, there is no Jesus in the Quran or in Islam, the Jesus you see is in the false translation of Quran, which makes it null and void, and real Muslims do not follow any prophet, they worship Allah, Who has no Partner and is One, meaning, nothing compares with him.

First of all, the meaning of the word Islam has 5 meanings not only submission. Islam means, Submit, surrender, obey, peace and sincerity. in another word Islam means submit, surrender and obey God in peace and sincerity.
Second the difference between Islam and Christianity is that the very first thing the Muslim must believe is that there is only ONE God. and He has NO partners nor sons and daughters...etc.
But the Christians believe that Jesus is God and some of them believe that he is just son of god.
Muslims believe that God sent Jesus and they respect him very much but as a prophet not as a god or son of god because even in the bible Jesus (peace be upon him)always was calling himself the son of man. not the son of God!!!!
Yes Muslims and Christians believe that God sent Jesus(peace be upon him) but the question is did He sent him as a god or as a prophet who was created without a father as God created Adam without a father and a mother?
Last thing Muslims follow the Quraan which is the word of God and the teachings of prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) and if you do that you will find yourself automatically following the real teachings of prophet Jesus (peace be upon him)
Some poeple say lies about islam, for example they say that the muslims don't believe that Jesus is the Messiah. That's a BIG lie because if you ask any muslim who is the Messiah they will tell you it's prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) even sometimes the muslims call him the Messiah without saying Jesus.
My suggestion is if you want to know more about Islam read about Islam from Islamic books. Can you go to a Math. teacher to teach you German? of course not, you have to go to the right person not. When I wanted to learn about christianity I didn't read from the muslim writers but the bible and what the christian preachers says. That's why, thank to God my faith in Islam so strong.

Big difference is that the Christians believe Jesus was God incarnate while the Muslims believe Jesus was another prophet like Mohammad.

first off good question, but Muslims dont follow Jesus.we believe in him, we would even fight and die for him.but i must say that since we believe Islam to be Gods only acceptable way to him, following Jesus as opposed to Muhammad is not conceivable.it is said that the prophet[pbuh] once said to umar[ra] if moses was alive right now, he would have no choice but to follow me.so we would have to assume the same for the mighty messenger Jesus son of Mary.

I think Muslims believe that Judaeochristian religion is based on revelations that were completed through Muhammad(pbuh)...that is, Christianity is an earlier stage of Islam.

Its all well and good... except that we dont believe in the SAME God nor the SAME Jesus. Trust me, its not a matter of semantics its about the major differences in what our Bible and the Qu'ran teaches about God and Jesus.

I think you should do your homework before you come up with things like this. You have absolutely NO clue what either believes. You just heard this and that, put 2 n 2 together and came up with ignorance. You don't really want to know the answer, you just wanna be noticed. So, *notices*.
