Although illegals don't do much work in the US, they certainly are involved in an incredible amount of crime (they are 35% of our prison population) including gangs and cramming incredible amounts of drugs into the US. That's very bad for us, but how often do people (especially the liberals who try to spin illegal immigration as being good for mexicans) count the cost to mexico? All that drug money and power gives criminals in mexico the ability to terrorize innocent people with impunity. That's OUR fault, both for buying the drugs and for failing to secure the border. Every time someone lies about illegals being something good, not only does it cause great harm to our country.....but it hurts people in mexico. Somehow, I can't help but wonder if it's done on purpose.

Illegal immigrants coming from Mexico to the US cost Mexico absolutely nothing. In fact, Mexico depends on the funds illegals send back to support its people and keep them from plunging into total poverty and debt.

This is a huge chunk of the reason why Mexico will do virtually nothing to keep illegals from crossing the border.

It's very unfortunate and a sad commentary, but here's the absolute truth:

Unlike you implied in your question, the illegal immagrants from Mexico do a lot of work in this country - to the tune of Mexico's biggest single economic subsidy. That's correct - the money sent back to Mexico from workers in the United States is Mexico's single biggest cash cow!

Mexico has no incentive to clean up all the corruption and build a better infrastructure to help keep the people in Mexico with better living conditions and more employment opportunities.

Do you now have to "wonder if it's being done on purpose"?

It costs Mexico nothing!!! And I'm so tired of this subject. There is absolutely nothing that can or will be done effectively to keep illegals out of this country. After YOUR president (I didn't vote for the man), relaxed the borders all hell broke loose. They (white people that would hire cheap labor who also thought it was a good idea at first) now regret it and are trying in vain to reverse their terrible mistake. Illegals are a burden on the healthcare system, welfare system, and education system and since all these systems are in place it seems, for just THEM, they think they are entitled. The SYSTEM is readily in place for them to take advantage right!? Again let it rest.

Mexican immigrants...legal and illegal sent BILLIONS AND BILLIONS Of Dollars into Mexico.

We are powerful enough to make a difference," says Guadalupe Gomez, talking about the influence migrants have in Mexican politics.

More Zacatecans live in LA than in Zacatecas
Originally from the Mexican state of Zacatecas, he's lived north, in the US, for more than 40 years. He is currently president of the Federation of Zacatecan Associations.

The migrants' influence comes with the massive amounts of money they send back home.

Despite the relative stagnation of the US economy, this flow of money keeps growing, according to recent data. In 2003 it increased by 35% - the total amount sent that year to Mexico was more than $13bn.

Remittances from Mexicans in the US have become one of Mexico's most important sources of income - second only to oil and surpassing the traditional tourism industry

I have actually been to Mexico. Illegal immigration does no harm to Mexico at all. It is their way of getting rid of undesirables. People used to cross the border for work. Since NAFTA has allowed so many good jobs to move to Mexico, everyone who wants to work can. The people crossing the border now are criminals trying to escape Mexican justice, people who want welfare, and the few trying to join their relatives already here. The sad thing is that the ones who want to be here for legitimate reasons find it nearly impossible to get a visa for all the human debris trying to get across.

I would imagine that illegal immigration to the United States probably costs Mexico a fair amount of their able-bodied workforce, people that could be building houses, schools, hospitals, and freeways in Mexico etc. Stands to reason...

Where did you get 35% of prison population are illegals much less mexican illegals? The war on drugs is just another fallacy like the war on terror. There both wars on an idea that can't be won and it gives congress excuse to tax the h#ll out of the its constituents. Also aren't the Neocons crusading immigration is bad because of potential terrorists?

Mexicans have bankrupted California. They work off the books - send their untaxed earnings home and have every way to scam public support all figured out.

It's a national crisis.
