Maybe a root beer.

Although many adult Jehovah's Witnesses do enjoy beer and other alcoholic beverages, they generally prefer to remain alert during their preaching work. If the preacher was clearly engaged in the ministry, offering an alcoholic beverage might even tend to seem disrespectful or degrading.

The typical Jehovah's Witness knocks at hundreds of doors each year. During his preaching career, he has already experienced degrading behavior from householders, some of whom: stand there naked, mimic Satanists, proposition lewd acts, brandish weapons, sic dogs, scream profanities, and accuse crimes.

Simple risk vs. reward analysis should make anyone very reluctant to abuse or demean these Christian ministers.

(Acts 5:38,39) I say to you, Do not meddle with these men, but let them alone; (because, if this scheme or this work is from men, it will be overthrown; but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them;) otherwise, you may perhaps be found fighters actually against God.”

Jehovah's Witnesses are going to knock on your door unless you specifically and unequivocally tell them that you do not want them knocking, or if they fear for their own safety. Nothing else will really deter them, so you would be going to a lot of effort to accomplish nothing but pleasing Satan.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

Now why would you want to do something so disrespectful? We are simply out going door to door, and house to house just as we are commanded to in the Bible. And we aren't out trying to make converts or to 'brainwash' folks like so many nay-sayers try to convince people into believing ( which is a lie). No, we are simply out there promoting Bible reading, so that OTHERs can find the great promises in the Bible that we have and be able to put faith in them like we do! There are some really awesome things coming up in the VERY near future from God and it is so encouraging to learn of them and know they are coming, to have that FAITH in them so that , during this time of trials and tribulations that the world is going thru NOW, to know that it is only VERY temporary and soon, VERY SOON!! this world will be a paradise in which no one will b e able to say "I am sick" and no one will die any more.... the dead will be resurrected and be able to be reunited with their families and loved ones, all in young and healthy bodies and in perfect health!! Babies that have died and were never able to have a chance, alive and growing !! Can you imagine the JOY?? And the world being restored to a paradise that the garden of Eden was and all singing the praises of God. . . . what a wonderful picture...don't you think?
So, now don't you think it is a little offensive to offer someone who is doing such a fine , SPIRITUAL work a beer when they come to your door to offer you the key to a happy, everlasting life?

It's not a sin to drink as long as it is done in moderation. But why would you want to offer a JW a beer?

Yes. If I had to knock on doors all day peddling religion, I'd want a beer as soon as possible.

That's one idea, but maybe you might end up having to give him one. Just quote this passage to him and tell him that anyone who says that Jesus is the Archangel Michael isn't welcome in your house!

"Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works. 2 John 1:9-11

If you wish. Jesus turned the water into wine, so there is nothing wrong with moderate drinking. Some JW's might even take you up on it, but only if they aren't driving.

Sure! In fact, my boyfriend's a JW and I think he's an alcoholic as well. He'd love it if you offered him a beer. I'd probably get pissed--And I'm CATHOLIC!

Offer him a polite, "No, thank you." and gently close the door on him lest it hits him on the face.
