There has to be some way that eBay is making money off of Skype. And if they're not making money on it right now, is it free because they INTEND to charge for it later on once enough people have hooked on? If you have any information and website links I can follow to help answer my question, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Skype is only free for pc to pc calls.
It is free til the end of 2006 on pc to phone calls only in the US and Canada for calls TO the US and Canada. Calling from anywhere else, or to anywhere else, is NOT free.
Also, you have to pay for someone to call you from their phone to your pc.
So only parts of it are free, and some of those will cease being free soon.

I use Skype and its called marketing. If they can create a user base by allowing free phone calls from PC to Phone as they are until December 2006 and also drive traffic to the site it will in turn cause consumers to buy other products such as Skype IN Service which is not free. When Ebay Bought Skype they knew that in order to create the client base they wanted and to drive up monetary value of the company they would have to sacrifice for a little while somewhere.

1. Skype was not created by Ebay
2. They are using Skype as an additional service to eBay users to provide easier communication between users.
