Rachel S obiously didn't read the link. When the Natives of the land of Mexico mixed with the spanish they became a new race MEXICAN that race spread up wards and TOOK by force that land from the other Native tribes who were currently occupying it. There fore that is how Mexico aquired California, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. Just to let people know this question is not about who's land this is NOW. It is about who's land it was origally.

Well for starters unless you are a true Native American, I wouldnt think that you would know the historical details enough to know what race of people took the land from the Indians.
Most of what we are taught in public schools has been treated as though not to show the full truth of the matter.
Yes the Spanish came over and took land, but so did the French and the English.
Debate it as you may, the people who now OWN these lands, would never let the debate make it to anywhere where that it could actually be returned to the original and rightful owners after any such debate.

OMG what a crock of bull. Obviously you havent done any REAL reading.
The Nativ American Indian did have real law and forms of government. They may have not been what YOU would consider civilized, but they were such a people.

I dont believe that it would be a very fair debate, since no mexican national has ever proven that they have a legitimate historical claim to the lands that Native American peoples claim as historical homelands & hunting grounds.
Read the link provided by Lucky2balive, then research mexican history in North America.
To the ones who say that mexicans are "Native Americans", Prove it! Show me your blood! I can trace my blood back to before the first wave of immigrants arrived on this continent, there are no mexicans in there. If you have no proof its all lies. Prove me wrong.
To the one who posted the Wikidpedia link, look at the bottom of the page, your "facts" are under "Categories: Articles with unsourced statements | Demographics of Mexico"
There goes YOUR theory.

Mexicans are mostly Native American, with maybe a bit of Spanish. Considering that many Native Americans now have some English/Scottish/German/etc. blood, the difference is a matter of lattitude.

Most people like to draw a line on a map and say that those descended from people below the current U.S. are "Mexicans" and those above are "Indians," even though that distinction did not exist to those cultures prior to the Europeans' arrival. There is little difference between a Pueblo person and a "Mexican" from just a few miles south, but the way the average American reacts to those two labels is quite different, an indication of underlying assumptions, stereotypes, and often predjudice.

Define originally? Becuz somebody occupied it before somebody else? The American Indian is not a tribe of one people, it is made up of many tribes with many forms of DNA (not to mentions the tribes of today are far from the first people to occupy the earth). The latest science shows that many native american people have European DNA from many thousands of of years ago when the two continents were connected by a land bridge. It is impossible to say who had what originally, which brings us to 2006, the biggest tribes with the best guns own it, regardless if race ;)

Alright i'll tell you what should be done. I think the Natives and the Mexicans should call out the American government for stealing the land in the first place. All this crap our president spews out about illegal immigrants is a load of bull, the only true illegal immigrants are the ones that signed the constitution. Don't get me wrong I love my country, but that doesn't mean that I am going to ignore what people refuse to acknowledge now.

I think all these morons saying that the land belongs to them, or Indians are the only REAL Americans, need to get a life. How ignorant and stupid can you be? This is US land.

Dillon B- You are a perfect example. It does not matter what happened back then. All that matters is the here, and now.

Who owns or has claims to land?
Only laws have let people have claims on land.
Indians had no laws or real gov't.
Mexicans lost their claims in a few wars.
It is American land. Indians and Mexicans are welcome.
So are Germans and Jews and Italians and Irish and whoever..but become Americans.
