If a church member won the lottery is it a sin?

If you were a dedicated tither would you give 10% of your lottery winnings to your church?
Even if your church believes lottery is a sin (many say gabling is a sin and that the lottery is a form of gambling)
If yes you would give it in cash or place it to the church under a certain category (missions or if the church had a building fund for repairs) or would you just give it to them for them to decide.

Do you think a church that calls it a sin and one of their own won? Do you think they would change their mind and expect and except the 10%

beyond that 10% would you do more for your church, what would you do?

Yes, I would give my 10% tithes as I would be truly blessed. I would also give something to the building fund and to the pastor. We always talk about the lottery, and I know if you already have money to blow on the lottery, you already hit with the money in your pocket.

Believe me, if you hit the lottery and wanted to give money to the church, all they would say is thank you, and look for some more.

The biggest thing to remember is God is not as much concerned with our finances, (even tho he did say to be good stewards over everything he gives us) but, he is more concerned about our heart.

church people like gambling.

Fact, many churches do raffles or bingo.

THATSs gambling............no matter how u justify it.

I wouldnt automatically give to church anyway.
1st step should always be get your personal affairs in order..and put the $$ in a trust and then pay bills, then consider chariety/church/friends/family.

Even then I would likely retain control of the funds I give in order to maximize value given.

My own uncle did that, buy building the additions the church wanted with his own 'trust $$$'.... Saving in the long run 50% of what the church would have paid anyone else.
Btw, uncle is not in construction...just knows how to manage $$.

tithing and the 10% came from the days when people had to pull resources to survive. Each family gave 10% of their crop, etc. and in return all were able to survive. It's simply a way for churches to squeeze money out of people these days. So in other words, they wouldn't get a dime from me, and yes, they would take the money if it was offered.

10%?????????........they get a hell of alot more out of pokies than anyone else.....a huge chunk of government taxes on all gambling goes straight in to line the pockets of the churches
