I guess I'd decide based on how hard it would be to catch up on the school work. If you could get your work ahead of time and bring some with you, it would be great for you to be there with your sister.

Option 3: Leave school for 1 day, either Fri or Monday and include the weekend in your visit. It is only 2 hours away. You could easily see the new baby and not miss to much!

Option 2:Stay home with your hated stepfather and go to school instead. [so you wouldn't have any work to catch up on and not fail]

go be with your sister. childbirth is a once in a lifetime experience. im sure that she will always remember that you were there for her. i would say screw school and the evil stepfather. you can always make up any missed assignments. besides, if you are only 2 weeks into school, i cant imagine that you would miss too much.
congrats on the upcoming nephew!

Get your homework in advance and take it with you to do in between helping with the new nephew and your sister. This way you won't fall behind, you don't have to stay around the dreadful step-dad and your sister will be happy to have you!

Stay at school, sister has her husband isn't it?
My reality part: I stayed with my sister together with my mum and brother-in-law and had skipped classes.
It's just 1 session, doesn't matter. Oh I cried when I saw my nephew when he was borned.

You are so sad. You are just making excuses to get out of school. There's not a darn thing you can do for your sister other than get in the way right now.

I would say be with your sister. Talk with your teachers and see what they can do to work with you? Some may have compassion for the situation, some may not.
