Ha! Yearbook just tells Admissions you had too much spare time.
Join yearbook for the experience, not for academic reasons!!! Yearbook shows you how much fun high school really is.
It will give you a bag full of emotions. You will have fun working with classmates on projects that cover school activities. It will give you unprecedented access to things you've always wanted to get your hands on, so long as it is "for Yearbook." You will feel pressure as you face deadlines to finish your tasks. In the end you will feel a mix of elation, grief, sadness, and total vindication when everything is said and done.
So, if you join... join to help leave a legacy for you and your friends. And have fun doing it.
Just an advice that might help you in your decision, if the Yearbook adviser is experienced, then it may be an easier ride. If the adviser is newly appointed, I guarantee you that on more than one occasion, all hell will break loose.

You are interested in publishing, including page design and layout. You enjoy writing and helping others to develop their yearbook pages and quotes. You want to be a more permanent part of the school's history.

You dont think about it much now but they will be some times you may never ever forget. In later years you will be glad you have it.

you and others will be able to look back years from now and see how you looked then and how you all have changed. you will also see what you and others were interested in then and compare to the present.

you can take pictures of people you like, so they are in there more and can have an 'accident' on someone you dont likes page.
