I read this argument that "God can fool us into believing the Earth is much, much younger than the estimated 4.55 billion years, like maybe only 6,000 years old. In light of the vast information gleaned from decades of serious scientific study, this argument is absurd and self-serving. Self-serving because I suppose an age of 6,000 years fits better with scripture. Absurd because it defies common sense and the fact that you can see the bones of a fully resconstructed dinosaur in any respectable museum. So, my question is, "Why would He want to fool us?" Is He hiding something?

Hey Crazy Celt - you misread my question entirely. I do belive the Earth is nearly as old as the sun. How could you twist my question like that?

Thank you Jengen for all your effort. TMI mixed with a modicum of obfuscation. Thanks anyway.

One final comment, not that Clublady will read it. You say the sun is a million years old max. Try 5 billion. Try doing a little research into nuclear physics, astronomy, and cosmology. That is SO inane, you have no idea what you're talking about. Yet you DO believe in a color TV, cell phone, and the computer you're using. Why is that? Those scientists are just fooling you, right? We all know there's no such thing as a color TV. It's a magic box handed down to Moses when he was carting the stone tablets down from the mountain, right?

It's a question of investment. Suppose you hold a certain belief dear. You have told everyone how you feel, you have felt this way your whole life. Someone presents evidence proving you wrong. What’s a good believing person to do? One can’t admit that their lifelong, heartfelt belief might be wrong. The answer is, to change the parameters. Now you can go on comfortably believing. It doesn't matter that you are wrong; the only thing that matters is what you believe. Nice way to handle things, don’t you think?

1. There is plenty of evidence to suggest a young earth. Some items are below.
2. Gap theory suggests that biblical references can show lengthy gaps in time.
3. Where is your clock? Quantum physics shows that time is a physical property and that acceleration gravity speed and other factors determine what "clock" you are using.
4. We are living in a purely electrical simulation. You never actually touch anything. The electrons (negative charge) cannot touch another electron due to the repulsive force that exist between them. So ask yourself, what is "real".

All I have to believe is "God made the heavens and the earth" and everthing else makes sense. You have to constantly plug holes.

You should ask God right now what the truth is.

I'm not sure that God is actually trying to fool us. However, there is a large amount of evidence suggesting that earth is much younger than 4.5 billion years.

Radio-carbon dating assumes that all Carbon-12 and 13 has decayed from Carbon-14 and did not originate that way.

Astronomical dating assumes that the speed of light has always been a constant. http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6092

God never fools anyone he is truth. As for the age of the earth, it is obviously older than 6000 years. The bible says that for God a day is like 1000 years. There are fossils that prove that the earth is very much older than 6000 years, but that does'nt mean the bible is wrong, its the interpretation you give to it that makes the difference.
Prophecies concerning Israel have come true and are still being fulfilled today...

You don't see many bones of a fully reconstructed dinosaur friend, most dinosaurs have been identified by just a few bones.

Mostly you will see models, but that refrutes the point. Try looking at this link

God is not a petty being.
Only a petty and immature being would put bones or 'fool us' into thinking differently.

Any christian who would use the 'god put that there to fool us', is not only not a christian but is a immature human being and even very very stupid about their own faith & beliefs.

Btw, one can use the bible itself to contradict the 6000 yr old info.

Why do people ask questions like this. I don't know how old the Earth is, you don't, and you will not ever find anyone that does that is living on it. Stop worrying about things you will never understand or comprehend in your carnal mind. Ask God all of your inquisitive questions when you get there. You will know then.

you have to remember that the bible was written by man not god, man can make mistakes and mess up, the bible is actually proof of that. Also the human minds comprehension about size and time have vastly improved sense the bible was written.

DO YOU TRUST SCIENCE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE, IN A HOSPITAL OR DR'S OFFICE? DO YOU DRIVE A CAR? USE A COMPUTER? WATCH TV? LISTEN TO THE RADIO? DO YOU OWN A STOVE, MICROWAVE, LAWNMOWER, TOOTHBRUSH, PREPERATION H? WHY DO YOU REJECT SCIENCE WHEN IT DOESN'T FIT INTO YOUR NEAT LITTLE COOKIE-CUTTER SUNDAY SCHOOL IDEAS, YET YOU'LL USE SCIENCE WHEN IT SUITES YOUR NEEDS AND LIFESTYLE? CHRISTIANS ARE THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITES ALIVE TODAY. ESPECIALLY AMERICAN CHRISTIANS. SCIENCE HAS TOLD YOU HOW OLD THE EARTH IS, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
