I believe that I have found understanding and a relationship with the Creator. How does my desire to persuade you to the same line of reasoning, and resulting comfort, make me your opponent? I wish you no harm, in fact, just the opposite. In like manner, I don't dispel others' beliefs or understandings merely because they are different, but rather because intelligent investigation through their suppositions returns me to the same base which I have already claimed.
I do not believe that all faith is blind, but rather that intelligent belief opens the door of possibility IF blind faith is required. And most of the time, God doesn't require blind faith.

A couple of things---
First, relative truth is an oxymoron. Truth is only truth if it is absolute.
Second, I do not seek anyone out to 'proseletyze' them. If someone asks a question, I merely answer the question as is qualified by the world view I ascrbe to.
Third, and this is for nhbaritone, this question is not addressed to you specificly. This is an open forum on religion and spirituality. If you don't want anyone involved in 'your beliefs', don't be involved asking and answering questions in this forum. You came to me, I didn't come to you.

It seems that groovusy is moving down the right track. When I discuss with someone a different perspective, then they and I both have opportunity to broaden our horizons, and the dialogue provides an opportunity for increased understanding of the differing perspectives. These things can help us to solidify and understand our own choices more thoroughly, and alleviate ignorance of other perspectives, and ignorance is a root cause of bigotry, prejudice, hate, and fear.

There is disagreement over the existence of an intelligent creator. Because it is something that each of us feels strongly about, whether or not we presume to know all the answers, we each seek to persuade others that we are right. Your opinion on the existence of God differs from mine. So in this context, you are my opponent.
Your question suggests you would be more open to dialectic than debate. I definitely agree that this is the ideal way to approach any topic. At the conclusion of a debate, there can be at most one victor, but even that is rare. In a dialectical discussion, the victory condition is to have a net increase in knowledge and understanding; hence the potential exists for mutual victory.
However, the key difference between debate and dialectic is that the second can occur only when all parties enter the discussion with the assumption that they are the least knowledgable party present. In other words, I have to assume going in that you understand the topic better than I do, or I cannot hope to learn from you.
Is there any chance you are going to be persuaded that I am right and there is in fact no God? I can tell you honestly that the answer on my end is No. There is zero chance I will be persuaded that you know more about the existence of God than I do, because it is not a topic on which human experience has any bearing.
Personally, I think those who claim to "know" God are the least likely to have any real understanding of the Divine. It is only by acknowledging our ignorance that we may hope to become wise.
But I thought it was a good question, and look forward to other insightful and thought-provoking lines of inquiry in the future.

I think the real issue is that you believe, not in how you believe. Why argue the humanistic side of God? We all worship in our own way and should let others do the same. We all attribute our societal values to our belief and then believe them somehow Devinne. This is human nature, so blind faith is needed by those to be able to justify the unseen.

It's like sitting on opposite sides watching the same game in the stadium. It is always the same game, but different points of view - all or not opposite - needn't be opposing but rather complementary.
I'm glad for you that you have found whatever you looked for (or not) on your end. Keep your eyes open, that's the only way to keep following the game. Imagine what we would see if we could all link our visions together, just imagine that!

your "a priori" assumptions are a good clue...your "desire to persuade" could easily be seen as proselytizing...and this is not the forum for that....
your freedom of religion, and freedom of thought only have meaning to you....and if you truly respect other belief systems, then you would not try to dissuade others from their beliefs to yours...
Would not the same specious logic also allow anyone else to convert you to their belief system
the premise that their beliefs are wrong, unintelligent, mistaken, suppositions...
while yours are correct
are these the open minded attitudes/words that you bring to a discussion????
Thank you ...no...
You have your beliefs...and I respect that...but, unlike you, I have no need to challenge your [mistaken, uninformed, naive, inane, unintelligent, infantile, illogical, presumptuous, wrong] theology
see the difference your judgmental words/attitudes makes in your credibility?

What? all of the apostles, different than John the liked, all have been killed for being those of spreading the forged information.Peter became into crucified and asked to be crucified upside as he felt that he wasn't worth adequate to be killed an identical way Jesus became into. They have been telling human beings to have faith in Christ and have faith on him, because of the fact His dying atoned for each individual sins. it is whilst the veil between God and guy became into broken. in case you study the gospel, you will see that once Jesus died (maximum suitable after), the veil in the Temple became into torn in 0.5, symbolizing this. Crucifixion is a factor of the forged information, being the different 0.5 his Resurrection being the different 0.5. meaning we are able to stay returned. John 3:sixteen reported all of it mate.

If we have opposing points of view about God, are we really opponents?
Not at all.
Providing we are talking about the same entity.

My faith is none of your business, and to assume it is constitutes disrespect. I don't ask you about your sex life, don't ask me about my faith.
