When you look in the mirror, you are seeing a reversed image of yourself. You have seen this reverse image for most of your life, so it looks "normal" to you. However when you look at a photograph, you are seeing yourself as the rest of the world sees you, that is not reversed, so you look "funny" to yourself.

Well that happens to me too. I look fine in the mirror, but I don't look good in a photo. It's because a photo doesn't capture the light and detail in the same way a mirror or someone in real life does

The camera adds 10 pounds and there are many different types of mirrors out there. For example, the mirrors in clothing stores make you look slimmer because that way, you'll be persuaded to buy their merchandise.

People can see you any way, we all have different perspectives. I used to think the man I love was ugly but after I fell for him, he became the best looking man alive to me.

Human faces are not symmetrical - one side is quite different from the other. When you see yourself in a mirror, you see a slightly different image than what others see - they see what you see in the picture.

Hold a piece of paper in front of one side of your face while looking in the mirror. Now cover the other side, and look at the difference.

You don't look ugly to others or in pictures - just different from what you're used to seeing in the mirror, which is a reversed image of what others see.

a mirror does not show you you as you are - it shows you a reverse of yourself. so when you see yourself in a photograph, you see yourself as others see you, instead of how you are used to seeing yourself.

however, few people are able to really relax in front of the camera, and so their images appear stiff and unnatural - and not how they are in real life. this is why some candid photography can be best - because you look your most natural.

so a mirror is just a reversed reflection, and a camera captures just a moment - and usually a posed moment where you might look unnatural.

Because you're looking at an inverse of yourself.
