No. Katrina and Rita are meterological phenomena. like earthquakes and tsunamis. Believing that such phenomena are God-sent punishments is a dangerous proposition because, once it is accepted that God works that way, anything can be understood as divine retribution. Also, the people primarily affected by those hurricanes were the poor; the transgressors of evil in this country are not the poor, but the very wealthy. A God-sent punishment of the wealthy would look more like an economic disaster, not a natural one.

What about the people that were effected by the tsunami or those hit with earthquakes. Think of the flooding that occurs all over the world. These things are natural weather occurrences. They have nothing to do with punishment. Do you hold all Americans responsible for what the government and military do? Would you like to be held accountable for everything your government and military have done?Spread love and light up the world.

Hmmm. And what about the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami? And the hurricanes that hit China? The Pakistani earthquakes? Do you think it has anything at all to do with geography and global climate patterns? Rather than some idea that human beings are being punished (along with all the dogs, cats, alligators, swamp bats and who knows what all)? Do you think that hurricanes have hit the US for thousands of years because of the summer warming in the oceans? And I have a card trick....I can make a card appear right before your eyes. Think it's magic?

Katrina and Rita are not cruel and torturous! They're natural disasters and they occur all over the world.

No I don't agree. I live in an area of the US that was impacted by Katrina and we did not deserve any of what happened here. You are judgmental and ignorant.

The dam was bombed and water flooded through. That dam should have withstood such a storm.
FEMA didn't even save people man, the news crews from other countries said they were the only people helping, no army, nothing.
Sounds like the work of HAARP to me.
Why did it happen to an area mostly populated by african americans. Racism i say.

They didn't deserve it. Did the people at Banda Aceh deserve the tsunami they got for leaving everyone alone? Nope.
