As a teenager, and all through my adult life, I have never had a problem with my skin. Now, at 56, I suddenly have bumps all over my forehead, down to my temples. They itch really bad. Could this be shingles that I have heard of, or what?

Welcome to the club of life over 55. It sounds like allergies..Maybe also could be allergy to wheat; nickel;cig smoke...Have a dermtologist check you...Best yet go to a allergist. You can find one in the yellow pages of your phone book.

Go to a dermatologist. It could be anything from scabies, which is caused by a burrowing parasite (yech), to lupus scalp lesions, which are caused by an inflammation of the scalp tissue and can't be treated with regular anti-itch medications. The discoid lesions seen in SLE are raised, erythematous plaques with adherent scale and occur most commonly on the face, scalp, and neck. Over time, these lesions lead to changes in skin pigmentation and scarring. Early on, discoid lesions may resemble psoriasis and necessitate a biopsy for diagnosis.

Good luck. In the meantime, try using Aveeno oatmeal soap or body wash to cut down on the itching somewhat.

Sounds like an alergy. Also sounds like it is to a medicine. Anything change lately. You may have developed a food intollerance to something like wheat, that causes skin problems but usually on the back of the head (iy is a serious desease) but I have heard of it in different places and it itches bad.

Have you changed the soap or shampoo you use, have you started wearing a top that is not a natural material, what about your laundry detergent?

You could use, with great effect, 100% pure coconut oil, I recommend Nui brand (pronounced New), it is a bit expensive but it works.
