why is it that ppl are so mean to each other? I just don't get it - maybe because i was raised different? Is everyone really this mean IRL?

by the way i don't think your being mean by saying my question is stupid - for someone who was sheltered til 20 it's a very valid question. I'm still trying to understand the outside world. and i'm not talking about being mean to me - i'm saying to people in general. sorry if it seems stupid.

I asked a question like this a while back. And it still confuses me. I hate it when people attack each other for no reason. I hate it when people are mean for no reason. And I really am ashamed to be lumped into this collective of meanspiritedness. I feel horrible for the little kids who have to grow up in this society where EVERYONE else is wrong unless they totally 100% agree with you on everything.
I can't answer your question, but I can tell you this: You're not alone in this struggle. There's a lot of evil in this world. There's a lot of hurt and there's a lot of injustice.
But as Gahndi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world,"
"Treat others as you would like to be treated"
Understanding this world can become very difficult at times. Sometimes all we want to do is put our collective headphones on and ignore what's going on around us. But if we do that, we not only cut off the bad things, but we turn a blind eye to the good things.
There are good people everywhere. And one good person can outweigh an entire room full of nasty people.

I think that everyone acts differently in different circumstances. Like we all know it is a mortal sin to ever curse in front of your mom but there is no problem when you are out with your friends if you let a little curse out. Just like here online- all the ignorant questions and answers- i bet 99% of those people would NEVER say those things in front of the people they talk about on here. It would be highly unadvisable.
I was raised to care about others as well, but everyone, no matter how they were raised, wears masks at different times in their lives, to accomodate the surroundings in which they are in.

By far, not everyone is mean to other ppl. It's only a minority who are actually mean. You are probably overly sensitive and will think I am being mean when I tell you that your question is stupid. The truth is that it is stupid because the way that it is worded implies that everyone is mean.

I'm this mean in real life, I just don't say anything to anyone. I use the internet to annoy people, I find it funny how they can get worked up over what some random person many miles away is typing.

Its easy to hide behind an avatar or online personality. Face to face reality is much different. I suspect most people will at least make an effort to act like they are kind - even if they really aren't.

Says it all. There are mean ones, Mr. Grinch. There really are some heels.
But there are nice people as well. ignore the mean people. better yet, pity them. it's a sign of small mindedness.

I think the main motivation for it is people who have low self esteem, and they think that cutting other people down makes them better. Other people just have no respect for other people's oppinions or feelings. It's sad, but it's a fact of life. We all have to deal with these people.

God IS love, without Him there is hatred and anger etc. People need to get saved and have a personal relationship with Him. Nobody is perfect, but if we have God on our side, He helps us love others and have a good outlook on things!
