T.B.N. showed a clip from this movie about a father who operated a draw bridge, and his son falls into the gears right when a train is comeing and the father has to lower the bridge to save the passengers and sacrifice his son, or sacrifice the train to save his son. If you know about this movie, please let me know. It will be a very good teaching tool for the sunday school children at my church.

I'm sorry but I personally don't think kids need to see another kid being killed no matter the point of the story ... it could screw with their emotional well-being. I used to teach kids in church too and I wouldn't show it for a number of reasons. If you opt to show it, you could have a few angry parents on your hands when 'Little Johnny' tells them he watched a kid die in a draw bridge gear. You might want to discuss the idea with your pastor first for his/her approval... it's always best if you let your pastor in on what you are doing so if a parent were to get upset about it... the pastor has a heads up and isn't taken by surprised. But that's just my opinion.

The Bridge

The Bridge

A dramatic parable on God’s sacrifice of his son. A father is working on the controls of a railroad track to allow an approaching passenger train to cross safely over the bridge. He sees his young son coming toward him on the tracks. It is at this moment the father must decide whom to save — the train passengers or his son. This powerful film opens up in a unique way the meaning of God’s sending His Son. An unusually effective discussion starter.

Pastor, I would have to agree with Baritone on this, I don't think it is age
appropriate. And Kids are sensitive to what they see and hear. Just
because you like this movie, and the morals of it, doesn't mean it would
be a good idea to show it to little kids. You want to teach the kids about
God's love....not a showdown..between life and death.

No, I don't know what movie that is.

"It will be a very good teaching tool for the sunday school children at my church."

You mean brainwashing tool? Your god isn't powerful enough to save "the people" and his own son?

I didn't know it was a movie, I heard it around the campfire as a camper and repeated the same story as a counselor. I'd like to know too. If someone answers, email it to me...

A couple years ago I heard that story on a christian radio station. It really puts things into perspective. I would contact TBN and see if they can tell you.
