My cat pees all over the back part of the litter box, and it smells through the entire house. I have to use a covered box or the pee goes up on the wall behind it. Even sometimes with a covered box pee leaks through where the lid connects and down on the floor, Making the odor even worse. He is neutered by the way.

I watched one of my cats one day. Started off in full squat and as he was peeing - he was also slowly standing up. I do have the larger storage containers (rubbermaid) but he still pees up the side of it. I have no idea how to stop it from happening, but can suggest that you use Natures Miracle to clean the sides of the litter box. I just pour a little onto a cloth and wipe the sides daily. If you can't find the product, try rubbing alcohol - I haven't tried it but it is one of the main ingredients and it sure smells like the stuff.

Get a bigger litter box...this used to happen with my cat all the time. If you can't find a litter box that seems big enough that he fits in the box and feels comfortable enough to pee in the litter while in the box, try using a large tupperware storage container as a litter box. They come in tons of sizes, and hold the litter well....although the don't have lids on them.

Good luck!

Most cats will pee on the side of the box when they don't like the brand of litter it being used, most liters can irritate the cats eye. Some isn't good for them to stand in.

Try and get another box that's just tad bit bigger then use some fresh step that should stop your cat from peeing.

Mine will use the toilet every now and then

A large covered litter box is great! I have one that holds about 40 pounds of clumping litter (clumping litter is the best!). If it doesn't work, at least get a mat or a large container to put the entire covered litter box in! Be sure the cat is healthy and happy - and the litter box is cleaned asap after use!

I have a female cat who spray-pees. The vet saw it and said he had never seen a cat do that before.

What I do is put a pad of newspapers under the box and up the wall (or whatever) so that catches the urine that is sprayed. The newspaper can just be discarded for recycling. It's kind of a drag and I don't have to deal with the smell.

Put the litter box by a wall so that he can't pee on the back, that or you can put down pads around the litter box so that it wont land on the ground and dry.

The litter box might not be big enough for the little guy. Well, you could scent his box with his own pee. I did that once and my cat kept doing her thing inside her little box.

very last 365 days my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the nighttime and in no way got here back. i recognize cats and the homestead did not experience an analogous with out one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She replaced into very fearful and may want to pee everywhere in the homestead. i found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the thoughts worked basically about at cutting-edge. i have not had a topic with Lola in view that. stunning! can't cease your cat peeing contained in the homestead? Then hassle no more desirable...

I was going to say get a covered litter box but you already did. That solved it for me. Hmm maybe get a tray with litter to put underneath box. (go to a garden store and they have trays for seedlings I bet that would work.) Sort of a hassle but it's the only thing I can think of.

Use a larger box and fill half full then use cedar chips along the edges. Cats can be extremely territorial. Keep fresh catnip available and that often mellows out a freakish cat. Good luck!
