So. All I've been doing lately, is crying. A teacher will bring something up and I want to cry. I cry over little things too and in front of teachers, as mentioned and it's getting pretty bad. I don't know what to do. Like, I can keep myself FROM crying, but that's a bit painful, and the other person knows I'm about to cry, which is embarrassing in itself. I just... I don't know what to do to keep from crying over the little things (my mom and I fighting, uhm... not getting a part in the play that I wanted, confronting teachers). All said examples make me go crazy. I'm not sure if it's stress or what. After I ran today, just after I had a crying fest, I felt ... Better, but by the time I got home, it was back.

Any adivce on how to calm myself, or relax and not think about crying would be great. I'm not saying I want to stop- I know it's an outlet, buuuut I need a better outlet.

One that's not so embarrassing at school. =[

Sometimes when our hormones are out of whack, we are overly emotional. Have you talked to your doctor about this? It could be that you've got some hormonal fluctuations going on, especially if you're young and have started your period within the last year or so or are about to start. Hormones during adolescence can be really wacky. I know you feel like you're the only one this happens to, but you're not alone.

Please get in to see your doctor and get checked out. That's a good place to start. Then, if everything checks out ok physically, you might want to consider getting some counseling. Counseling is confidential, so that nobody at school will find out. Counseling can help you learn some coping techniques and also learn what's at the root of it all so you can deal with it.

Good luck to you. I wish you peace and well-being.

Assuming you are a girl - it may be PMS or some other hormonal thing. It could be stress. It could also be a vitamin B deficiency - get a doctor to check your vitamin levels (simple blood test). I was getting pretty emotional and I think it was a combination of all three! I would advise against thinking you are depressed and need medication. It sounds like you are almost pretty normal emotionally other than the crying. Don't worry too much about it though, in time it will pass. Try finding the whole thing amusing and while you are crying - laugh!

I would start journalling times that you have cried during the day. What are your feelings then? What is going on at that time? What does that all mean to you? Are you afraid of confrontation? Is this something that you need to work on? Vitamin B does help if you find yourself depressed, especially if you are PMS'g. You may want to talk to your doc about doing blood work to see if there is anything wrong hormonally or with your thyroid---something like that- and to explore some meds to help out if necessary. It sounds like you are in school and going through alot, so whatever you do, make sure you address those issues too!!

It truly sounds like stress...you feel like you're being judged or like someone else is running your life? Maybe you are too critical of yourself and your abilities. You're right though, it's an outlet. when you finally find a friend or even someone that you work for that compliments you and your work, it will give you that something that you are missing...self confidence and pride. There is nothing wrong with a good cry! When you feel it coming on find a strong positive thought and focus on it then take a deep breath and blow out slowly.
Stay strong!

You need to find your happy place... mine has been a picture of my bf together... it is a still shot from when I was really happy... but if not that... then the other thing I do is find my center... basically start to breath slow and calm your body... if running made you feel better I bet it is stress and you need to try running more, or maybe even take a long bubble bath every night!

i agree that you should try to think of something that makes you happy... it's difficult at first but it gets easier as you do it. i have the same problem, one week out of every month, and that's what i do. it helps. also telling yourself all the reasons you shouldn't be crying... like repeating to yourself compliments that you've gotten, would help. telling yourself what you're good at and thinking about why you like doing it so much. i don't think that you need antidepressants, partly because you're young and can mess you up, but also because i have faith that you'll make it through this and learn to better control your emotions, and grow as a young lady because of it! :)

I think that all your crying may be a sign of depression. Maybe you should talk to a therapist or a doctor about what truly is bothering you. Or at least a good friend or family.

Good luck

You may need to speak with a physician about getting on an antidepressant Welbutrin. Call your doctor tomorrow and talk about it, you be surprised how much it will ease your mind.
