OK. I go to www.java.com. I say download, begin download, and the yellow bar appears. It says "This site might require the following ActiveX Control: 'J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6' from 'Sun Microsystems, Inc.'. Click here to install..." When I click and say "Install ActiveX Control, it opens an "Install-don't install" window. I click Install. Then it downloads "windows installer 2.0". Afterit does, a window pops up that says "abort Java(TM) Installer" on the top. The text is, " To restart the Java(TM) installer, please refresh the web page. Of course, I've tried that, but the same thing comes up every time! What should I do?

Something is blocking the procedure.

Check your antivirus program. Disable the firewall, or temporarily disable the program until you are finished.

Some Adware programs like Ad-Aware Adwatch Plus or SpyBot Immunizer will block it too, and must be disabled. You might have different but similar protection.

Some pop-up blockers will bar the procedure. I have to disable 3 different blockers to download Active X controls.
Internet Explorer Pop Up Blocker
Yahoo Pop Up Blocker
Ad Aware Pop Up Blocker

Check your Windows Firewall too. Disable it or lower the settings temporarliy.

Be sure to return everything to the default settings when you are done.

Good Luck

Shot down your pop up blocker or set it to medium.
Then try it again.
