Brilliant youtube video! I'm not technically an 'atheist' but it is certainly the best explanation and most enlightening expository of the reasons why an atheist -SHOULD- care especially in America.

The same could be said for anyone who self indentifies as 'other' when asked to list their denomination. After all there are no -atheist- terrorists blowing people up, or crashing planes.

There are no states in which a Christian or Jew or even Muslim could not hold office.

There are no state supported organizations which are run by atheists and which do not accept members because of their religious affiliations - but the reverse is certainly true.

I still feel that John Lennon said it best;

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,

Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,

Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you¹ll join us,

And the world will live as one.

If there were no religions, there would be no athiests. Some of the things that that person cares about, are the exact same things that some religious people care about too, but we all are not saying that the simple answer is to just do away with religions period. Many religions believe that there are no such things as gods or goddesses. We believe that there is only one God. Not God in 3 persons, one God.
Anything less is idol worship to us, and God has told us to refrain from that. On the issue of Evolution, that's fine to teach, but it can't be taught without it being in conjunction with Creationism. If we just taught Creationism, they would have the same problem. That's probably why prayer was taken out of the schools. We all agree that those killing in the name of their god is wrong, because we would not be killing in the name of the one true living God, at all.
By trying to lump all religion as a bad thing, they are becoming the exact thing that they are supposedly trying to prevent--- chaos and disorder---and that will always be the most destructive religion in our society.

You're not really asking a question I see. But yes, that video is a nicely done explanation for a lot of the reasons why atheists care about religion.

Oh, and I see that theists are once again stating their biased views without actually paying attention to what atheists actually say.

Religion is far worse than the scourge of all drug-addiction. It is a spiritual drug that is so deadly, its effects can last a lifetime and cause havoc not only for that individual but for all who come into contact with him/her.

Look what it has done through George Bush. Superstition has beaten common sense. Religion is the root of narrow-mindedness, dullness, stupidity, extreme mental-masturbation. It is a spiritual HIV.

"Religion is the opiate of the people."

I'm not atheist, but I hate how people love their fake idols when they can love something real. Christians divide the world into God, us, and them...whereas I see it as just us. Agnostics and atheists only want to spread this simple truth: We don't know if God exist, and instead of worshiping Him night and day, we should try and make this a better, more sincere world.

Deep inside they know there is a God, God put it there for a reason, and sooner or later everyone seeks the truth. Some accept it and others believe the price is too high to pay and therefore continue to try and philosophyze their reasons for not believing. Excuses will not hold up however when He returns.

In some awful, strange, paradoxical way, atheists tend to take religion more seriously than the practitioners. Jonathan Miller

It's because Generally speaking, the errors in religion are dangerous; those in philosophy only ridiculous. David Hume

They don't. They care about trying to secularize the world.

They complain about their "religious freedom" being infringed upon, when they don't consider Atheism to be a religion (only because they've chosen to separate themselves from other religions so as not to be considered religious one way or the other).

If their's was a religion, they'd have right to complain. As it stands, they've chosen to distance themselves so far from "normal" society, that they've cut off their noses despite their faces.

Because it is a whole lot easier to be against something then to be for something.
You criticize, attack and fight others beliefs and try to force them to give up , what they truly believe in.
I would rather be a Christian and be wrong then an atheist and be wrong. If a Christian is wrong , they lose nothing if an atheist is wrong they will lose the Kingdom of Heaven.
