Well, originally I had planned to watch a video tonight with my girlfriend but then she got really moody (PMS) because I told her that me and her brother decided it was best if she didn't go to the movies friday night with a friend since we wouldn't be there to protect her from inappropriate scenes or to make sure no other men touched her (figuratively speaking). I guess she wasn't that bad, she was kind of whining about it and I had a rough day at work so I told her to go to bed at 9:00 and that she needed to get some sleep because she wasn't thinking right. She did but now I feel bad because we didn't see the video tonight and like I got her hopes up and then disappointed her. Did I do the right thing?

First of all why are you telling what she can do and what she can't do she is your girlfriend not your child. I am sure she can hold her own at the movies. Yes it was wrong for you "send her to bed" If I was your girlfriend I would of told you to F.u.c.k. Off.

First of all.. I'm going to be straight up honest. This is a girl's opinion so take it seriously. you sound very CONTROLING! Read what you just wrote:

"I told her that me and her brother decided it was best if she didn't go to the movies friday night with a friend since we wouldn't be there to protect her from inappropriate scenes or to make sure no other men touched her"

She's a big girl. If she wants to go to the movies with a friend, my gosh LET HER! You're not her father. And you TOLD HER to go to bed. This does not sound like a healthy relationship. And the sad thing is SHE LISTENS TO YOU! Girls get moody. Learn to put up with it.

And let her make her own decisions.

You treated her like a child - in a very patronizing manner.

Doesn't she have a brain of her own? The day that I couldn't go to a movie because some man wasn't there to "protect me from the bad scenes" or was sent to bed like some naughty child because I "wasn't thinking right" would be the day that all h*ll broke loose.

She doesn't need your permission.

I think you right in tellong her to go to bed and get some rest. The thing is how did you tell her? Did You say she should go to bed and get the rest she badly needed and you and she could watch that video together another day. Did you tell her it was because you care for her you wanted her to get her rest.
As long as you had her interest at heart you do not have any reason to feel guilty

yeah your bad. First of all who do you think you are telling her to go to bed at a certain time she is her own person. Second of all never say your going to do something then go back on it because a woman start to not believe you when you tell them you are going to do something. Third i think you have some major kissing up to do and last in a relationship you are suppose to make the other feel good about themselves and not like there incompetent.

sounds slightly controlling but it also sounds like you might have just been looking out for her in the since of saying go to bed earlie to help out with her pms. maybe you could have said it in a better way. also if your feeling upset about it she might be too, so maybe let her know u were just looking out for the good of her by advising her to go to bed earlie... on the other hand keep in mind she is her own person and should be able to see movies with her friends if she so desires. best of luck 2 u

It would have been better to have merily suggested , saying oh honey it seems like you are not feeling very good why don't you try to get some rest . That way you are not commanding her to do something . If you try to control her she will run from you at some point . If you care about her you will find another way to communicate . Good luck . If you find you need help in this area it is available .

It is more messed up that you tell her she cant go to the movies with out you. You better do anything you can to keep this one because you would be hard up to find another that lets you treat her that way.
Maybe if she was bothering you so much you should have went to bed.
Horrible way to handle the whole night.

Your a jerk. Your girlfriend needs to find a real man. If you think you are a Dom, you are maidenly mistaken. I take that your girlfriends has low self esteem and is very vulnerable, you are why so many women hate men.

Dear Daddy,
I hope you are joking and that you don't really think that your behavior is acceptable. Inappropriate scenes?!??! Well, since she must be 12 or 13, we wouldn't want to burn her little virgin eyes.

UNBELIEVABLE.
